And just because you think it won't be practical or feasable doesn't mean your correct.

Race car technology normally filters out to the street cars, remember? This isn't a modification for poor fools that are stock or mildly moded. This is for people running LARGE FMIC's which is NOT a lot of people here. Most of THESE people have spent a LOT of money on their car and probably don't give a **** about spending another few hundred dollars on something that is FUNCTIONAL.

Whatever dude. Put up or shut up. Build a custom "IMSA Style" oil cooler setup. I'd love to see you do it for a "few hundred dollars".

Do you even have a turbo?

Ok, before this can escallatefurther I just want to say that I just brought this up to try and help people not to cause any offense or anything to people. If I have come off as an a-hole sorry. Now to a crude parts list:

You need fans and coolers. ~200 each combo.
(2) Oil Coller and Fan

I have previously bought some galvanized(sp?) steel sheets at ace for around 2-3 dollars. Using around 6-8 of these you could make the inlet paths(scoop thingies)

To be able to use some High pressure rubber line you need some barbed fittings. I think these are 3 dollars each.
(6) NPT Barbed Fittings

All that is left is to find some hose that will handle the 100psi or so that the system will see. I was thinking about hydraulic hose because it has NPT fittings(like the coolers shown) But I am not sure it they can handle oil/heat.

Now these parts were just gathered up really fast to show the possible cost. Ofcoarse we would have to see if the coolers and fans are up to par with what an rx-7 needs.

So far the total is around ~5-600 dollars. Its still not bad if it works.

My idea: I bought a Y2k bumper so it gets rid of the flip ups assembly. 2 or 1 Oil coolers (preference) would go were the flip ups use to be, then you could either run a V-mount or just your standard FMIC.... follow? doubt if the stock oil coolers would fit veritical but I'd run something better..

Don't use that barbed fitting crap, it will fail and cost you a motor. You should use two-piece reuseable earl's type AN fittings and earl's hose. Many oil coolers on the market come with AN style outlets instead of NPT, so it will bolt right up. Earl's has a whole line of coolers for that matter, which are well designed and not too expensive. Be aware that the Earl's fitting and parts are spendy, but they are a lot cheaper than losing a motor (or even a whole car if the oil gets under your tires when the cheap crap fails)
