new motor symtoms

Probably flooding since its new. You'll need to run the car more so the seals can fit properly and the compression should go up.

I think the break in is like 2500 or 3k miles so you still have a bit to go man.

No, it should get better the more miles you put on it. Not sure how many miles though but I'd say within a couple of hundreds. The break-in process is just pampering the engine. Just don't go more than 4K rpm's for the break in miles and let it warm up and cool down properly every drive.

Probably 150 - 200 miles. Never done it myself though.

My opinion your engine should not be doing that. Check some of your wiring.

remanufactured rotary engines need time to break in a build up compression.

nope, sounds fine for a rebuild - especially if it started without too much trouble and runs "ok" just break the motor in religiously. take it out this weekend for a drive around town for a few hours...put a good 150 miles on it, city driving...stop and go. The car should get easier and easier to start by then. By 2000 miles the seal should be set, cgange the oil...the plugs, set the TPS once and for all and drive on.

I do this on a daily basis. It doesnt matter who built an engine, but what kind of rotorhousings were put into it, as far as how well it runs and how quickly it builds compression. Even the best built engine will be hard starting and flood the first few hours of use.

There are of course always exceptions, and things that cant be readily explained though, ad yours was one I guess. Sometimes I have one that fires up and idles on the first bump of the key, and sometimes I have one that takes me 6 hours to get running, even though I built them the same.

After the vacuum leak is fixed it still will be hard to start for the first few days. I bought an engine from Atkins a few years ago took me a good week taking it out every day city driving going thru all the gears. Don't go over 3000 rpm in 5 th. After 500 miles change your oil. You should be using 20W 50. It will get stronger as you go. Good luck. Gary
