new fc3s non turbo gtu POWER LOSS! PLEASE HELP!
Hello, i have just recently bought a 88 fc3s GTU. I have a few questions. But first off maybe this information will help. The guy before me had put a stright pipe all the way on. and set it to where it would blow out fireballs. and a coustom crappy intake. nice intake but shity home made housing. oh well i put it all back to stock played with the idol a little but not i feel a major loss of power. I put the stock pipes back on, cat and all, and even the stock intake. He had, put this wire inside the engine bay that held these vaules down to give it a boost or soemthing, but i told him to take that **** out and leave it. so he did, and now i am experiencing major power loss out of first gear, and when i try and gas it the rpms go up really fast and then just frickin drop and it takes hella long to accelerate. does anyone have any ideas? I really need help. PS> its blowing all this white smoke in the morning and when i get out of school i start it up and its pretty embaracing a bunch of white smoke enough to cover 1/4 to 1/2 of the damn parking lot. its white smoke. and it stinks. So someone please help me out a little. thanks a lot!

Well, putting it back to stock obviously slows the thing down, because the stock exhaust setup sucks ***. Next, he's refering to the auxilary ports that he 'wired' open, by removing it he probably made them not functional at all (which is even worse than wiring them open), which cuts your HP by about 20-30 over 3k rpm. That smoke, if it is white, (and if the car runs bad when it's doing it), is more than likely coolant caused by a bad coolant seal (especially if it has the sweet coolant smell to it).

Yeah keep those ports wired open. And put the straight pipe back on it, the stock exhaust really does suck. pretty much reiterating what SonicRat said.
