New Clutch Fan - Odd Behaviour?
I realize most people replace theirs with used units or do an e-fan conversion. I could not find anything on this issue:
Replaced my Clutch Fan with a new one and it is loud. Once the engine warms up it engages and doesn't seem to dis-engage. It's louder than the engine when revving (no joke). Even on the highway I can hear it full blast.
This doesn't seem optimal. I get the feeling once it's engaged it's on 100% until the engine goes back to fully cold.
The loudness of it bugs me. It's also using up power needlessly.
Input?

Check the bi-metal strip on the front.
Is it even there? Is the center valve actuator pin under it?
Does it bend outward when warm & straighten back flat when cool?
You can test that with a hair dryer.
Some dilbert at the factory may have assembled it upside down.
