New car New problems
OK guys I just picked up an 89' vert auto the symptoms I have are:
The car starts real hard u have to let it crank for a while and give it a litle gas... once it fires up it runs great EXCPET for when u put it in any driving gear
(R, D, S, L) the cars RPM will fall so low it dies (not before I can shift into gear and hit the gas, but if I come to a stop sign or light and dont go into Neutral it will die...
When comming to a stop if I put it in neutral it wont die..
what sould I be looking for that could/would cause this
I am gonna give it a full tune up (plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter and trans fluid and filter change) anything else I should be looking for.... I dont think it is a vac leak but I could be wrong..

bad or mis-adjusted TPS, or a bad BAC probably... but it could also be related to the tranny... I just don't know **** about the auto trannys on these cars to tell you where to look.

I am not doing a swap this is gonna be for my wife...
do u honestly think the bac or tps will cause the car not to idle at all when in a driving gear?

well here is the problem.. the guy had jacked the idle up so high to higd the problem.. after adjusting the idle and the butterfly screw I have the idle at roughly 1300rpm (still to high but better then 2K) the bac valve must be bad because it is surging in park or neutral
however after messing with it and getting it like it is now the car will hold an idle and does not surge in R, D, 2, L so the car is drivable but in park or neutral the cars idle surges..
so if I am right I need a bac valve and then I can work on the tranny....
now do u guys think this could cause the hard starting or not? I pulled the pluggs today and this is what I found

both front plugs and the rear trailing plug look like the plug on the left, the plug on the right is the leading rear rotor plug...
should I be worried
I will buy new plugs, new wires, new fuel filter and air filter and do that this week (as well as a trans filter kit)
however do either of those plugs look bad

nothing wrong with those plugs other than they look like they have 30K miles on them.
And surging is TPS... and show that the BAC does work just fine.... not getting why you don't want to check the TPS...
oh well you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink

I will test the tps now.. thx Ice I know dealing with me can be a pain but I have learned ALOT on my s4 but the s5 is a different beast..
I take it the tps testing is in the faq?
