Needed: Tubular manifold for stock turbo (S5)
Well, as common as it is, my stock manifold has a few hairline cracks in it. I'm looking for a replacement, but want to go with something more durbale, so this doesn't happen again. Is there a company that's making tubular manifolds for the FC?

Unless its leaking externally why bother? You could probably find an un-cracked unit for $200...
You can get a tubular unit built, but do you want to spend $700+??

What would you be willing to pay for one that is stainless? tubular from engine to turbo.
PM me if interested...

Where on Earth did you get the idea that stainless tubular manifolds are more durable than the factory cast ones? Do you realize how long the OEM ones last compared to a typical aftermarket one, even a good aftermarket one? Get a factory turbo manifold off a low mileage Jspec motor.

although the tubular one will drop some weight and flow much better. it will not be stronger than the OEM cast manifold in longevity.
with that said, i am in the process of making one right now. i was thinking of making a jig so i could make these for people when they want them. its very confined space and dosnt give much design room. im starting to think its better to just port and polish the stock turbo manifold...

So, I'm no idiot and I'm aware of the pros and cons of both. However, my cast iron manifold has 8 cracks in it. I'm attempting to repair it now, but was in search of a ready to install manifold afterwards. If I don't find one, I will have a co worker make the manifold, for $100 plus parts.
The car is a toy, not a daily. So, I'm not too concerned with the longeavity... and where did you see a low-mileage jspec?

If I were you I would figure out which one you want first... More durability or more performance... if its only $100 then what are you waiting for... I doubt you will find a used one for that cheap...

I don't understand this thread though. If the OP can have a coworker make one for $100, why even bother looking for an aftermarket manifold that will cost 8x as much?

i was looking to make one. but after measuring it and seeing how cramped it is. if you were to make it with .125 wall S.Steel, it would almost be less flow than the stock one. and still less durability.
bost option. find a uncracked stock one. and port and polish it. i think it will perform the same, if not better than a tubular one. theres just not enough room to use wide enough runners.
when your friend makes it. post pics and let us know what is the OD and ID of the tubing.
