Need your Opinions Please!! And Thanks
Hello, I am brand new to this site and I am basically looking for info. I am possibly buying a 2nd gen RX7 in the near future for very cheap. I was thinking of doing an engine swap, along with new tranny. I am thinking after I gut the interior, revamp the suspension, and locate the side markers and other missing lights, this would be a great autocross beast. There is a shop locally that concentrates on rotary engines and will be able to get me a brand new engine (somewhat souped, I don't know how much ) for $1800.
I am wondering about suggestions on how much and where to get an engine (wanting more choices besides the local boys). Also any really great shops in the Midwest that you could let me know about.
I am currently driving a 2002 Honda Civic Si hatch and I know next to nothing about rotaries and/or RX7's for that matter. Any and all suggestions and/or comments would be warmly received. Thanks again.

I would assume that since you are planning on putting a tuned engine in a car for autocross and changing the suspension, you will be running in an incredibly competitive class. I may be wrong but those are just my thoughts. I know there is a great rotary shop in Monroe Michigan (right by Detroit) called Bonzai Racing that can do just about anything with a rotary engine. Good luck.

It's already competitive!! I am currently in SM w/ my Si. ..running against a hybrid Civic that wins SM everytime he runs (basically) and two Mustangs who are both fast cars and great drivers. I either place 3rd or 4th about every meet. I will check into Bonzai Racing, thanks.
Is there anyone else out there with info and/or opinions, please chime in!!
