Need some headlight reccomendations.

Hey guys Im looking for new headlights to put on my vert. Anyone have some links to some good bright lights? I've had the 40 buck ones i think silverstar or something from autozone/orlieys/advanced auto/ blah blah And I've tryed the cheap ebay projecter junk ones. IM looking for something better than those price is not too much of an issue id like to keep it under 200 though.Thanks.

Hella housings plus some 80/100 H4 bulbs. Makes for some very good lights without looking any different to oncoming traffic, so you're unlikely to get flashed at for too bright low beams, which also means that you'll probably never get ticketed either, since those are technically illegal bulbs.

sylvania
"H6054ST Silverstar High Performance Lighting: The Whiter and Brighter Halogen
H6054XV XtraVision Halogen - The Brighter Light
H6054CB Cool Blue Halogen - The Whiter Light"

I forget which I had, very very effing bright, legal, price wasnt too bad. One burned out extra quick, prolly just a random problem it didn't go completely out was just really dim. I went back to some other brand, can't see as much now, esp to the left/right.

The bulb on mine were blueish looking, if you looked at them at an angle it looked slightly blue (Not like those HID's) also the road had this winter white/blue look to it, not like a super crazy bright look/dim yellow white look.

I loved them

Just a reminder to make sure you aren't overly taxing your electrical system. Many different headlight bulbs are higher wattage than OEM. Add this to accessories like air conditioning, stereos, and other electronics and the alternator (S4 especially) gets strained pretty quick. I'm not saying these aftermarket bulbs are bad, just look at the whole picture. Old, weak batteries don't help either. I've seen several vehicles headlights brighten up once a new battery was installed.

That's because US market silverstars have a blue film over them to achieve that "white" beam look. I have a pair, and I think they're junk. Go Philips.

I run silver stars, i love them. They are nice and bright and have a good beam pattern to boot!

Plus at under $50 for the pair you can't bea the price.

Really the only other option that is better is to go with a custom HID setup, but that will run you a fair amount over $200. and will take a lot of custom work.

Icemark did a really good comparison of different light/housing combos.

I got mine sylvanias at Kragen, $40 for the pair. Can't beat the price for how bright they are. Make sure you get the silverstar version though, they are much better than the other versions.

Yeah - NO. It's not the electrical system that you have to be worried about so much as it is the old factory wiring being overworked. What are the STOCK bulbs? 55/65, 45/65? Regardless, the math says that (assuming 55/65) on low beams you are drawing (55*2)/14.4= 7.64A and on high 9.03A. Upgrade to the ones that Black suggested (80/100) and now you're asking for 11.1A & 13.89A respectively. At most that is a 4.86A load increase. I HIGHLY doubt that you are going to notice more drag on the alternator. If you rewire the headlights with newer, bigger, better 14G wire, you will see less voltage drop and the lights will be brighter.

When you said your buddy saw in increase from a new battery, unless the battery was so dead that it was taxing the alt and decreasing the voltage, the increase in lightoutput was more than likely from cleaner terminals and less resistance.

I HAD a set of Hella H4 conversions at first. It allowed me to choose any H4 bulb that I wanted. That would be my rec. **** the sealed beam. You're limited to what they put in them and not what the better bulb is. I vote Hella, or Bosch, or IPF is supposedly FANTASTIC. Alot of my fellow Jeepers run those and love them.

Currently I have Need-a-T2's dual beam, low pop-up, H9 conversion.

On a side note, I AM SO ******* HAPPY NO LITTLE RICERS ARE HERE PREACHING ABOUT SHITTY HID CONVERSIONS!
