Need to know if my car has FCD
I have an 88 turbo with a full Racing Beat exhaust and pre-silencer? I have had the car for about 2 1/2 years bought it with the exhaust already on. Always assumed whom ever put the exhaust added the fuel cut defender. I blew one of my rotors quite awhile ago I only have 70% compression in one of my rotors. I am getting ready to put a J-spec engine in and I want to make sure that the FCD is there. Where should it be located at? I have looked by the ECU on the passengers side and didn't see any thing that looked like it, but my ECU did have three numbers written on the top in red pencil or crayon like maybe it had been changed. What does it feel like when you experience fuel cut? My car makes between 8 and 10#'s of boost all the time even now with the low compression rotor and I never feel any kind of hesitation or anything like that under boost. I am considering getting a fuel computer to help but I am torn between the Greddy E-manage and the Field simple fuel computer, would appreciate any reccomendations on these or any other ones like the HKS AFR or an FCON. Also would I still need to run a FCD if I run one of these systems besides the FCON since it comes with its own? Thanks Bulldogg.

if you are experiencing 8-10 lbs on an 88 T2 model, i'd think there is some sort of FCD in place. or which might mean you do have an upgraded or reprogrammed ECU. i'm not sure what to look for on that though...
but a more normal FCD can be found on the passenger site strut tower in the engine bay. that is where mine is...a racing beat one. there should be a small box called a "boost sensor" connected to the strut tower. plugged INTO that, there might be another small black box too...that would be an FCD. it basically interrrupts the stock plug running to the boost sensor, and then plugs into the boost sensor itself...
hope you find it...

Don't run an FCD if you have a "chipped" ECU, though. The ECU will have the fuel cut removed, and using an FCD would hide the real boost signal from the ECU for no good reason.

I have looked at that sensor before it's behind the intake on the strut tower it has a part # N318 on it one end has a vacume line on it and the other plugs into the harness but there is nothing else plugged into it. I do occasionaly hear a slight engine knock sometimes
under higher boost levels but that has only been recently I didn't hear it before my rotor went, but could that be from fuel cut, I am not sure what happens when the computer cuts the fuel. If my computer is modified would it effect the piggyback fuel computer I choose? And does anyone know how to find out if the computer has been altered? Thanks again Bulldogg.
