need help w/injectors

Ok guys, look, im really sorry about this and it may sound stupid but between workin on the car and trying to find info and the stupid lady at advance auto parts, im about to put a for sale sign on my fav. thing in the world
I did the fuel system pressure test, via the hanes manuel, and my secondary's werent pressurizing, i took them out and was lookin at them and on one of them the plastic cap thingy on the nipple(engine side of the injector) has a couple of cracks in it, and on both of them there is a little metal rod sticking out of the ends(again, engine side of the injector) is the plastic caps the reason i am not pressurizing or is it because the little metal rods out the ends????? and if it is just the plastic caps on the ends, can i just replace those and o-rings and grommets or what, im at a huge loss here cause i just sold the supra and now i dont have another car, i really need some help here cause im gettin pissed and i appreciate any input cause im gettin desperate
oh, and the plastic cap thingy slid right off w/the grommet, if that helps any

How were you measuring fuel pressure at the secondaries? If the primary rail shows pressure, the secondary rail will to as they are in series. The only way the secondary could not show pressure is if there was a clog in the hose between the primary and secondary.

Now, the little plastic bit you broke on the end of the injector is called the "pintle cap". The metal rod is called the "pintle". It's supposed to be there. Getting a replacement pintle cap is a bit of a pain. If you have a local fuel injection shop, they will have time. Otherwise you can order from Mazdatrix.

It has just now occurred to me that you may be trying to see the secondary injectors spray by cranking over the engine. That won't happen. The secondaries only come on under load above 3800 RPM.

What are you trying to troubleshoot?

my car is a 87 gxl w/t2 conversion, it was runnin and then stopped and wouldnt start back, acted like it was flooded out, and when i tried and tried to get it started even with the pedal to the floor it just gurggled a bit, and compression is fine, when i did the fuel pressure check the fuel pump never stopped running and the secondarys were humming like a bitch, like they were just stuck wide open so im went from there, and thanks aaron cake, i know it took me a while to respond back but i finally had to take a nap
by the way, ive read many of your write ups and found lots of usefull info

the humming noise is just fuel flowing through your lines, since they recirculate back to the tank. sounds just flooded to me.. try putting some 2-stroke oil in through the spark plug holes

ill try it, but the thing of it is that my fuel pump never stops runnin when i bridge the terminals on the test connector so i think i should go buy a pressure gauge and test the pressure too, or atleast thats what the hanes manuel says, could it be the fuel pump? or the regulator on the secondary rail, cause thats the only place i hear it runnin, i dont hear any noise at the primary rail

your fuel pump will always run when that connector is bridged. the fuel pressure regulator keeps a constant pressure by determining now much fuel gets sent back to the tank. Dont worry about the noise. You describe classic flood symptoms. Unflood it with the 2-stroke oil method, should start right up
