Need HELP! One Month Till Drift Day!!!

Okay, so i have a 89 fc and im encountering some problems... Im staring to notice more and more a loud sqweel coming from the engine bay... It ONLY happens when the engine is warm, and when i reach 5000rpms and the sqweel gets louder and takes longer to stop the higher the rpms go from 5000. The noise seems to be coming from the front left side of the motor if your standing in front of the car looking at the motor... im lost on what it could be... i have a few friends that know alot more about the rx7 than i do and there stumped as well... also my clutch seems to be acting up as well and i donno if this is what is causing it... it is not slipping at all the clutch pedal just gets super sticky as the car warms up. and when i say sticky i mean that when pressing it in slowly it will stop and you will have to push harder. and while easing it out normal driving it will just it a spot going from fully disengaged to fully engage and grab real sudden and real hard and will sometimes kill if not enough throttle is applied because it will engage so harshly... any help/advice/knowledge would be GREATLY appreciatied... i have one month till drift day and really would be upset if i couldnt make it.... thank you for taking the time to read this... hope to see some replys thanks to all....

I can't help with the noise, but the clutch thing is probably your master or slave cylinder starting to go.

Best thing to do is to replace them both with a new stainless steel line. Be sure to get OEM units or they will die out again before you know it.

you still running your OMP? check to make sure its still pumping oil or else try to premix the next time you get gas. 2 cycle oil, 1 ounce per gal... hopefully its not the apex seals screeching.

Belts? left side on s5 n/a is just exhaust manifold, 6th port actuators, OMP, Air Pump (runs off Belt).

If it happens at 5000 RPM-redline, thats around the range that the 6th ports kick in, they don't squeal though.

Check the air pump or accessories that run off the belt? Rev the engine up in neutral up to 5k rpm using the throttle plate with your hand and try to replicate the squeal.

If it squeals, listen around the engine bay, you will find it.

EDIT: I briefly read one of your other threads, saw you removed your P.S. Possibly belt slippage due to this and maybe other components you have removed? Alternator belts are known to slip if you remove certain components, search and you will find out about this.

Have you tried spraying your belts with a WD40 and see if the noise goes away.

Water pump...maybe, alternator, no.
Anyway, you're confusing "belt" slippage with "component" slippage, two different things.
A belt slips because it's not tensioned properly (or, worst case scenario, the component it's trying to spin is locked up)- tension the belt and the problem is solved.

Remove the air pump and you've removed a lot of belt engagement with the waterpump pulley, so the waterpump may not spin at the correct speed (i.e., it "slips").
No matter what you remove, the amount of belt on the alternator pulley never changes, so it can't slip if the belt tension is correct.

Yeah I did confuse the alt & water pump, my fault, thanks for the clarification though....

Since the O.P. hasn't removed any components, it may be squealing due to belt slippage, has this been checked yet?

As far as the two canisters you talked about, those are for your 5&6 port activation. If you have an S5, don't remove the air pump unless you are ready to loose low end (or high end) power, since you pretty much are going to either manually have to keep them open all the time, or closed all the time.

Do not use oil on your belts. Please use carb cleaner.

Replace your clutch master cylinder. They are about $50

Or you could use stuff designed expressly for the purpose:

That stuff wears off in 2 minutes. It is not a good solution to squeaking belts. If you think the belts are squeaking, take some carburetor cleaner and lightly spray them. If the squeak goes away then you know the belts either need to be replaced and or the tension is wrong.
