NEED HELP! i think cars running lean?
hey guys well i have an 88 TurboII bone stock only things it has are full exhaust 2.5inch with magnaflow muffer and 2 forza tuning mufflers in the back and a walbro 255lph anyways i purchased 2 gauges today a boost gauge and a/f ratio gauge anyways after installing the gauges i would floor it and the car would feel like its hitting fuel cut? i installed the a/f ratio gauge i spliced into the 02 sensor harness but a friend tells me that now since spliced into the harness that the 02 sensor could not be getting the correct reading and its messing up.... another says that it could be the same thing as friend #1 said or im overboosting and hitting fuelcut he says fuelcut on a TurboII is about 7 pounds???? i always thought it was 10??? if so anyways i floor it hits about 6 pounds of boost and falls on it face all around 5.5 to 6k rpm???? any ideas i was thinking of the correct way to connect the a/f gauge instead of splicing would be to soder it onto the wire instead of just using a but connector? any ideas??
need to have this car running soon as this is my DD
THanks

Couldn't you create a shield just by lacing the exposed wire with more wire and some heatshrink? Might be ghetto fabulous but as long as it's not coiled around..wouldn't that help. Getting to the ECU can be a pain sometimes.
That description sounds terrible, basically a shielded wire just has extra insulation and wire running the length of the cable, I was implying that adding insulation and wire and then heatshrinking it on there would help?

ok well heres an update this morning i saudered the wire together correctly and covered it in electrical tape nice and tight still have the issue i floored it when i hit about 7 pounds mayb? it starts starving im looking at the a/f gauge while its doing it and the gauge is still reading rich???? any ideas??? only thing left on my mind is fuel cut but how is it that this can happen all of a sudden just because i installed a boost gauge and a/f gauge?

heh, i hate to say it because it seems to be the band aid answer to every thing
Grounds, lol
hesitations? grounds'll fix it
parasitic battery drain? grounds'll fix it
Blown coolent seal? grounds'll fix it
Flat tire? well.....you see where this useless post is going
sorry i couldnt be more help, i dont know much about turbo cars
maybe you should check wiring and your fuel pump for proper operation, possibly a clogged fuel filter, maybe you knocked a wire or ground loose/off when installing these things, i understand, getting new toys for your car, especially for seven owners, you can get quite excited and disreguard things like, having enough gas in the tank and going for a fun drive through the twisties, and the such
Sometimes things go wrong and seem REALLY related to eachother when they are not, keep all options open

are you sure your getting a proper reading from your newly installed boost guage? before it was 6lbs and now 7? maybe where you tee'd the vacuum line for the boose guage was a bad spot or is leaking giving you improper readings and your actually creeping up to the fuel cut range? i dunno, just throwing things out there

^^ that is possible not 100% shure but i tee'd off the hose that connects the upper intake to the pressure sensor??? thing is i know the gauge is a good gauge (autometer sport comp) but theres times the turbo only wants to hit 5lbs and theres times the car takes off and hits 7lbs??? im lost i truthfully dont think it can be electrical i checked the bearings on the turbo and the turbo is def shot but still should have no reason for the car to fall on its face like it does??? thats really the only thing that bothers me right now =/
