need help with headlight mod
okay call me a douche for asking because i'm SURE it's been asked a hundred million thousand billion times already - whatever - i don't want to hear it.
i just need some help, because i can't find the search option in the new forum thing.
i want to make my headlights half up?? i don't know what the mod is called, but you guys should know what i'm talking about. the aggressive looking headlight mod where the headlights only pop halfway up, i think that looks sick as hell. i want to do it to my '89 GTU. but.... HOW?! help me out, please !! i would really appreciate it. thanks guys.

You can make your car look broken like this in about three different ways:
Broken car method number one...you unplug the motors from their harness plugs and adjust them manually with the **** at their bottom untill the desired broken/stupid/ricer look is achieved.
Broken car method number two...you buy a switch to be installed in the harness for the lights and make it so that the switch controls the power to the motors and you flick the switch at the proper time to make your car look broken/stupid/idiotic enough. Switch it on to releive the stupidity of your pop culture warped mind and return the headlamps to their proper and functional position.
Broken car method number three(most expensive)...you buy one of the headlight pivot controllers sold by a few companies on ebay and the net and install per instructions and then set to desired "ultra-***-mode".....
*Drops flame thrower*
Those are the three ways to achieve your desired "look" any "flame" I used was to try and lighten things up. I answered the question in my own manner and I am sorry if I hurt anyones feelings.

Go Santiago GO!!!!!!
HOWEVER.. I noted before I made a CAI duct that when drag racing.. if you pull the light fuse and adjust the passenger side up about 2 inches, cold air gets forced into your cold air box from the gap behind the headligh.... HOWEVER. you must have a cold air box and removed the little rubber flap on the hood behind the headlite for theis to work.
NOW THEN.... Other than trying to get some cold air in at the strip... i see no reason to do this.

Can't really tell if it was sarcasm but thanks if it wasn't. Spending money or time for that matter on things like this is a real waste of human resources. I'd say try and do something good for the car like a tune up or a little cleaning in and out.

Assuming that you have the black wire grounded, and the grey and red wires are joined:
Cut Red and Yellow wire going into 14 pin connector for headlight control. (this wire will be labelled "RU" (Retractor up) in the Service Manual) The location for this wire is different in S4 and S5 cars I believe.
Use a butt connector to connect the grey wire to the red/yellow wire going into the connector.
Use a butt connector to connect the yellow wire to the red/yellow going into the main body harness.
Connect the headlight switch and test. Headlight on, it should raise up all the way. Headlight off, it should close to setting you specified (22 deg looks good) If it does not work, make sure the black wire is properly grounded, and your other wires are properly connected.
I received a free Pivot RHU-M unit from my friend, and while it serves no purpose..it's fun

actually, the proper non-rice way to do this is to drop some dollars on teh Hella 3.5" low and high beam lamps and reengineer the mounting spot of the motor and the length of the arms so create a BMW 850-ish look.
This is on my to do list right after filling on the exhaust notch on the left side of the rear bumper... I'm projecting I'll get to it in '08 or so.
