ON Need Help - Alignment Issues.

Hey, So I got new tires yesterday for my turbo2. I have been with this garage for years now and give me great service, they don't screw me over.

I asked them for an alignment with the new tires and well Everything was out of wack. I am running 225/50/16 in the rear on the stock 16x7 wheels and 205/55/16 in the front. I also have kyb adjustable shocks and tanabe 1"drop.

left front caster - 6.0* back right front caster - 5.5* back
camber - negative 0.6* camber - negative 0.7*
toe - dead on (in the green) toe - negative 0.05*

Right back camber - negative 1.7* Right back camber - negative 2.7*
toe - 0.55* toe - 0.65*

All of these parameters appear in the (red zone). Anyhow the camber caster and toe is no problem to adjust front, ~ an hour per side.

The problem comes with the rear toe. The garage tells me I need a complete knuckle set for each side - as per mazda garage. The cost for this is $500 plus a few pennies a side. Do I need to get new knuckle assemblies or can I get away with an aftermarket toe adjustment kit (if one exists). I want my new tires to last me and I would appreciate some advice on what to do. The estimate for all of this would come up to almost $1700. Thanks a lot for any advice you can give me.

Rear toe is set with a big eccentric bolt at the front of the trailing arm. It's even got handy increments marked on it. I can adjust both sides on mine in roughly 10 minutes with a little experience and some Longacre toe plates I picked up. The only issue should be if the bolts are rusted in - I've heard of that happening, but my car's never been winter driven, so it's not an issue for me at least. I have no idea what the purpose of replacing "knuckles" would be - is this referring to the floating hub assembly? Maybe they are trying to tell you your DTSS bushings are shot? If so, just order up some DTSS eliminator bushings (~$50) and get them pressed in, and Bob's your uncle. Virtually nobody goes to the expense of buying new hubs to get new DTSS bushings unless they're really sticklers for staying stock - and/or they are fans of snap oversteer at the limits of traction.

Could be your shop is just reading some recommendation that the floating hubs be replaced to ensure DTSS bushings aren't worn out and causing toe problems.
