NA Turbo vs. J-Spec Turbo
I am wanting a turbo fc. I already have a na motor with bad water seals, what i am wondering is would it be cheaper to go the j-spec route or to turbo the motor after i reseal the motor. thanks

The easiest way is also usually the cheapest way for this, like Scott89T2 said, sell your NA and buy a real T2.
Next good choice would be to swap in the J-Spec engine, because of the turbo engines HUGE advantages over the NA engines. Also, remember your NA drivetrain and some other parts are not as strong or good as the ones on the Turbo cars...

I think you may have read that wrong... maybe as something like "the jspec engines have a huge advantage over the US spec ones" ?

I think he is saying "should I buy a N(orth) A(merican) turbo or j-spec turbo." hence "NA Turbo"
just my $.02

edit: i just reread his post. but still the title is weird.
and, get a TII dont put a turbo motor in an NA car, alot more money and time than is needed.
believe me.

Why do people think it's so easy to find TII's? Obviosuly people aren't selling them because everyone wants the damn things, and i'm not aobut to drive 800 miles to pick up another 7 again.

Not true. All engines were the same. The only differences were in emissions equipment (no EGR valve...but S5s don't have EGR anyway).
BTW, the "advice" of "just buy a TII" is really starting to get on my nerves. It's just not the simple, and this may surprise a few, but to some of us our cars are more then a hunk of metal.

the NA (Naturally Aspirated) has a section in the faq for people who have added a turbo to the NA motor instead of buying a factory turboed engine. I found a JDM/J-SPEC engine and trans for 500USD and i can get a good body with a NA motor still in it (doesn't run) for 450USD. So what my question was: rebuild the NA (Naturally Aspirated) engine and add a turbo, or buy a JDM/J-SPEC and swap into the car from a cost standpoint. Gonna do the labor myself. I wont be happy with it otherwise.

Well from a cost perspective obviously buying an import motor and just chucking that in will of course be cheaper than rebuilding the N/A motor...
But the import one might be about to die? so would you really be actually saving money? maybe not....

Its going to cost you more money and time to put in a turbo motor vs. getting a TII, but I think its more satisfying, and you know what is in it when you build it yourself.

I don't completely agree, if you want the "real deal", then absolutely just buy a TII. However, if you get lucky enough and you search vigiliantly you can easily build a S5 "TII" out of an NA way cheaper than buying a nice real S5 TII.
My motto has always been: If you can't find your TII, build it.
Have fun, good luck

If you wanna build yourself a nice gen 2, get an n/a and work with it, suspension upgrades. brake upgrades, engine upgrade and it will cost you less cause you dont have to spend the extra to get the turbo model, even if you get a t11 you would still end upgrading suspension brakes and so on and youll end with the same end result just spent more.
