Well, the thing is, if you really like the GXL, then why don't you just say how much you like the AAS, power accessories, etc.? It's fine if you like those options, but it is hypocritical to say that the GXL is the ultimate RX-7... after you strip it of everything that makes it a GXL. It would be like if I said that the 2Gen RX-7 was the ultimate car... just as long as you swap out the rotary engine for a V8, add a domestic transmission and rear end, and install a fiberglass body kit that makes it look like a Ferrari. You don't see the convertible owners saying how their convertible is the ultimate RX-7 as long as it's converted into a coupe, or the TII owners saying that their car is the ultimate RX-7 once the engine is swaped out for a non-turbo 6-port, or the 10AE owners saying that their car is the ultimate RX-7 once the badges are removed and the car is repainted to look like a regular TII.

you didn't get my point.. i DON'T like the 'luxury' features.. i'm saying i can do without and that >>that is the car i just so happend to get<<. i'm not being hypocritical, i am defending my GXL cause it's a damn GXL and i have one! i could give a **** about the other GTUs or GTU or SEs.. I DON'T HAVE ONE! so until i have something else i will say that i think the GXL is best. i don't see what the differences are anyways. they are all NA FC's in the end. but my vote still stands cause the GXL sitting in my driveway is MINE. so, does that mean if i have the AAS option removed then it is no longer a GXL? guess what? IT'S STILL CLASSIFIED AS A GXL! what else would it be???

The only thing I like about my 88 gxl is the fact that its an RX7. I cant stand all the power crap. I thought I was going to bust a nut taking out my sunroof when it quit. Great daily driver though. I want more power, time for a T2

You know, somebody should make a "sticky" thread on this forum with that kind of information. Maybe it could have some actual RX-7 brochures showing all the standard equipment and options. It could be titled "What did my FC come with? What is different between models?", or something like that.

It's also too bad that some brochures were not posted twice already in earlier pages of this very same thread, otherwise we would all know the answer to this question.

As 2nd gen. factory model-the '89 convertible. Why? It does it all: 1. Roadster+coupe driving experiences, totally different-one car. 2. Best/ innovative hybrid 3-way top 'til '02 Lexus/Mercedes: aerodynamic, remove/fold hard shell, HD vinyl, liner covered frame, heated glass window, tight/quiet. 3.Restored 59k stock+ exhaust, intake, clutch, 225'-50's; reliable, low maint., 8,ooo rpm/no sputter--good engine year. 4. Useable shelf, no cheesy Bose plbg., 2 bag trunk, pwr. opts., CD, AC, alarm. THE TEST: I would keep my conv. over any rx coupe new/used. Waiting for the RX8 convertible; may keep my '89 anyway. Clean, low mileage ones are rare. Where're convert's on the poll?
