N/a Rotor housings on t2
can N/a rotor housings be used on a t2. i have a set of 2 i think that there n/a. they dont have the 2 little holes for the exhuast manifold for the turbo. I put them together with the old one i took out, and they match up fine except the part with the exhaust.

Yes it will work, however, if your using the stock turbo you're going to have to make some modifications.
The stock turbo is water and oil cooled, it draws the water in from the intake manifold that connects to the housings wich has the water jacket (TII housing). Since this jacket won't be there, you'll need to get water from a different source.
If you've already done the TB mod, then I would suggest tapping into the TB water source that comes out from the top of the block and leads to the water pump housing.

the original holes can be drilled out then the diffusers need to be removed.

Hey ddub, what are those holes on the bottom of the exhaust port on the outside of the housing for? I've always wondered, is that something to do with the EGR? just guessing.
Also since everythings covered.. what the hell are the jackets for underneath the lower intake manifold? the ones that are always filled with carbon and ****, I believe they run to the ACV, do these along with the exhaust holes that I refered to above have something to do with one another?

Very true, but that can *sometimes* be harder. The roll pins to get the sleeves out aren't exactly easy. You can either drill them out from the inside, use a cutoff wheels (small one) to cut them in half between the sleeves, you can weld a little droplet to the top of them and pull them out, or use a self tapping screw to pull them out. All in all none of these are that easy unless you've done them before.

those diffusers can be pryed out completely too...
also FYI - tii rotor housings are better than NA rotor housings... you should look for some if you can find um *cough*ebay*cough*

1. How can they be pryed out exactly? What do you mean? They are part of the sleeve so you either need to grind them out or use a torch to cut them out.
2. How are TII housings any better? Only difference is they don't have the diffuser and they have the coolant passage on the rear one for turbo as far as I know. So if you get the diffusers out it's the same basically.

1. the diffusers and their "case" will come out if you heat them up... specific heat, eh?
2. I think it has something to do with compression... not sure on that one thow... i don't like to give unsolicited advice which i think i just did...

And as far as I know the compression is no different between the two, only differences being the coolant passage and no diffusers stock.
Yah that's exactly what I was talking about with welding a droplet onto them and pulling them out, I read that there too
I didn't have a welder at one time and I was trying to do BDC's suggestion of using a self tapping screw screwed into the roll pin and then yanked out, however I couldn't get it to work very well =\

well good news, the exhaust port was already ported out (race) for the 2 rotor housings i got. The problem i was talking about is the 2 little holes under the exhuast port. do i have to have that on there? i have no emmissions! and i think the 2 holes are for egr reasons. in the t2 they look like a coolant return.

Alright, so let me just understand this.

The sleeves that im refering to are this:
When you take off your lower intake manifold, say a 6 port one, you will obviously see 6 ports. 2 in the middle, and then 2 on each side of the manifold right? now look just below the 2 on each side, there is a small sleeve.
Take a look at this picture:
See what im talking about? there is a sleeve underneat the left and right ports. On some series of sevens there is a sleeve under only the middle port, for the S4 turbos the sleeves are under the right ports, and middle port.
Im assuming this is for EGR as well right?
Does it work like this:
When the EGR valve is OPEN, the exhaust gases go out and into the intake manifold sleeves (refering to above). WHen the valve is CLOSED, the gases go out the little hole underneath the exhaust ports?

Those little holes are for the "port air". ACV blows through them. They lead down to the exhaust manifold through the small holes under the exhuast port.
The EGR passages are almost entirely contained within the center iron.
