Mystery Part
Can someone identify the part in the picture and where it belongs? Found it laying in the engine compartment below the battery and leading side coil-ignitor. The part is a flat piece of metal, 6 1/4" x 1/4" x 1/8" with a U-shaped cross section.
Car is newly-acquired S5 GTU with A/C and OEM radiator removed. TIA

I'm guessing the previous owner just left something in there by mistake. It doesn't look like it from the pic, but are there any holes in it, or notches of any kind that would allow it to mount to something somehow?

Doesn't look like anything I've ever found in an FC before.
As a professional mechanic, I find funny stuff in engine bays all the time, rags, tools, plastic bags, animals, etc. This is probably something that got left in there.

Appreciate the comments! You may be correct in that, as I said, some components had been removed and this may be a leftover from that or it might be a piece of some non-car item.
To answer Gatlin's question, there are no holes in the piece. It appears to just slip onto the edge? of some component and possibly held in place by some sort of gizmos on each end. (There are some wear marks on each end.)
