And, I took the top off one of the afm's and loosened the allen bolt and move the wiper as far as it would go in the full open position and there was no improvement. But when the wiper went off the carbon track the SAFC read 100 percent.
And before anything else is said, YES, we know all about NZ Football. Just the other day when:
CANTERBURY 0 MANAWATU 1

You'll notice the number one and the lower-case letter L look different. Similar, but not the same. Page 17 of the S-ACFII manual shows this even clearer.
Even without satelite TV, I do know of the AFL and it's demise. I don't know anything about it, but I know of it. I don't follow rugby either, so I didn't know of Canterbury's defeat. If it hasn't got engines and preferably wheels too I don't pay that much attention. How about that A1GP?

And if you do that, and the percentage is below 100 percent, tab your SAFC to Sensor Check and look at Af1 in volts. To get 100 percent, I've come to the conclusinon that the voltage at full open has to be in the .300 vdc range. A .350 will give you a lower percentage reading. More like 85 percent or so.

well, this is partially interesting and what not, and it's always good to set something straight...but i think this thread went too long after the first page....heh.
regardless of what percentage you get, you can still tune your AFR with the SAFC.
but as a matter of adding to the topic in hopes of ending it, i will just say this. all S4 AFMs should have the same voltage range. all S5 AFMs should have the same voltage range. MAYBE there is a difference in range between the NA and TII AFMs but i doubt it.
ANOTHER thing to consider is if the SAFC is properly setup to take in the appropriate AFM reading. the different types you can select could adjust the range of input values...

The percentage you read on the SAFC is directly related to the full flap open voltage you observe. If it is not around .300 vdc you are never (unless you loosen the allen bolt in the afm and make the wiper go off the carbon track, then yes, you'll see 100 percent), going to see 100 percent.
