my setup until i can go with a standalone and bigger turbo..
#27
i mean its all about what im better off doing in the long run because either way i have to save money first. im not all about speed yet because ive never even driven my stock TII yet.. but haveo owned 2 na's. so im sure ill have fun driving it stock at first and going with the standalone from the beginning. but i need exhaust, and if i get the racing beat boost is going to spike on me right? will porting the wastegate fix this for me? do i just need a boost controller to hold stock boost?

If he's on a tight budget, there's nothing wrong with intake/exhaust/FCD/SAFC/Fuel pump for mods. and since porting the wastegate on an s4 is like $70 at MOST it really is worth the effort to go though with it even if you don't plan on keeping it forever. Or you could do what I did and find a cheap a$$ s5 turbo with a ported wastegate and swap that in.
also don't forget that every time you add another mod with a standalone you need to tune it, which is about $500 the last time I heard. where with the SAFC you can tune it yourself in about half an hour.
also, you can pick up an FCD and an SAFC for less than $200 used on this forum, and sell em for what you paid for em when you're done.

$70 to do the gate no way, he can do all that him self. get a VW or honda (but the VW is bigger) exhaust valve out a junk yard and port the gate to almost match the valve and replace the stock flapper with the valve. boom boom done.
mite want to look into a better clutch, it was the first thing to go when i started modding. and the suspension one these FC are tired replace this so you keep this car on the road.
no need for a boost controller unless you want to up the boost, a BC wont lower boost only raise.
you can start out with a Rtek 1.7 that has FCD placed in it already with a SAFC and can up the secondaries to 720cc should hold up to 8.5-12 psi with out problems on stock ports, turbo and intercooler. after 12psi intercooler, pipeing, BOV comes into play and were trying to keep a budget in mind.
rewire the fuel pump, get a 3rd gen or walbro 255 pump, upgrade to a 3" TID and cone intake, look into the throttle body port/modd. i would consider replaceing the fuel and vacume lines if they havent been done yet, these cars will bring fuel fires if they would ever start to leak but if your going to pull it apart to to change the injectors mite as well get that out the way. find a local tuner and dont be afriad to ask questions.
do a compression test before anything and hope for 3 digget #'s. no need to do any of this if you have a rebuild already in the near future.
