My S4 NA to S4.5 Turbo Build Thread(PICS)
Ok, im bored time for a Build Thread! Pictures are from When I first got the car to where I have it right now. Tell me what you think, Good and bad. Where Im from there really arent to many FC, or for that matter, Rotary lovers So all constructive critisism is appreciated.
So first off my FC started life as a 1988 GXL. I picked it up with about 118K and ZERO mods, 100% stock. Themotor ran descent and interior was clean but the body was shot, not too much in the way of rust but this car is appearently a target for shopping carts and 100 year old ladies that just dont know how to drive.
My first "Mods" were an ebay cone, some Nissan 350Z wheels, and some S5 tails.
After driving the car about a year, and putting 5K on it I picked up a JSpec S5 Turbo set off of Japanese Racing Engines, motor was awesome clean, and came with a few goodies. Price was fair too at around $1500 after S&H.
-Came with a Dual pulley, 3" downpipe, and a sweet twin plate clutch(if anyone knows the brand post it cuz I have no idea )
So I ripped out the old NA and started doing some dress up on the engine bay. I like to paint the bays black when the motors out because its neutral and if you paint it later you dont have ungly red under the hood...+it doesnt show dirt.

(OLD MOTOR)
I Used the Rotary Ressurection method of taking the S5 motor and tearing the "Smart parts" off and replacing with the S4 parts.
-Front cover
-OMP
-I used an 87 harness and ECU, so I also installed low Imp injectors and the resistor pack.
I also kept my NA rear end(for now) so I had a turbo driveshaft endplate redrilled to bolt up to the NA rear. Thanks WVUMTNBKR, a fellow forum member

I then picked up some OEM style 20mm wide fenders with OEM TII side skirts from JHot, even came with clear side markers!
First night it was running:
The heater core line blew, throwing coolant EVERYWHERE. Thats why it was shut off hard:
And after getting it running right I got a steel on a Allum. TII hood, then I painted everything flat black until I do a body vinyl like the FC Truck guy on here. Also added a Home Depo lip( garden edging with the little round part cut off.
The last set of pics were taken today, 7-27-08.
Let me know what you think and if you have a good idea for something else to do to it.
+ and - comments are ok, I just ask that all comments be constructive.
-Thanks

That lip looks like ***. It fits poorly, and are there zipties holding it on?
Get something your FTP holes and get the whole car one color, I guess the whole car in primer is better than half the car in primer.

get a real chin spoiler or get nothing :/ ooor, if you're gonna go the custom route, fiberglass over that garden edging thing and make the bumper and "lip" into one piece.
looks like you fixed your headlights too, good.
don't paint it flat black :/ flat black is second to primer. well, maybe matte black is second to primer. either way, cars were made to be glossy. they look unfinished if they're not shiny..whatever you do, cover it in lotsa clearcoat

Yea the flat black is just because the cars doors and quarters look like golf *****. Im doing a little dent pulling and bondo here and there and blending it all with the Flat black. Once the rear overfenders are on and I get some coilovers im doing the body vinyl.
It will look like this:

You've pretty much got all the bases covered.
I would say paint it all one color, but you've explained why you haven't yet.
What I will say is lose the lip, even empty space will look better.
Find some better wheels, 350z wheels are heavy as **** and not really that good looking.
The car is starting to look mean w/ the fenders and flat black front, just don't quit.

More Pics!!
Roots Factory near Philladelphia is one sick *** shop. New DynoJet and rediculous cars. They hooked me up so I gotta show some love.
My rigged gauges for now. Im going with the Aero Works carbon fiber center dash gauge pod (http://www.shop.retro-spec.net/produ...1&productId=69)
And my custom Home Depo 3" drain connector and Sr20 boost pipe turbo inlet duct. Kinda hard to see.. sry
And no this isnt going into my FC, but it is a hint of my other project...

sweet ride dude. If your looking for a budget lip, you can make a s13 lip fit pretty good on an fc. i got one on mine and its pretty chill. also i dont have to worry too much on crackin it or chipping it on speed bumps or curbs....just a thought...... other than that. i like what im seeing looks like many more good things to come. are those turbos off a nissan or just garret turbos u purchased?

-The Ca 240 raced a 07' SS Cobalt and was beet by 4 cars to 140mph
-Last night I raced the axact same Cobalt SS (has had some work since racing the 240) and from around 40mph, 2nd gear 4500 or 5K, I had him by 3 cars at 140mph.
If it makes you feel better Ill just say it was on a track...
