My new wheels what do you think?
Just got done doing a engine swap so the car is still greasy. The wheels are 17" Mustang GT wheels that I got for $350 with tires. Then I just painted them. Blue hood is aluminum from my parts car painting the whole thing later.

I think they look great, and for the fact that you can fit an insane amount of tire on those wheels is a plus. There are 2 reasons I dont get them though.. 1) They are very heavy (forget the exact number at this moment, but something like 27lbs each?) and 2) To me it seems that you may have serious issues up front with it rubbing the fender, especially in heavy cornering situations..

27lbs? i heard they were like 18lbs, i thought those rims were pretty light when i picked them up.
and ya the rubbing does suck. but i think they look cool.
has anyone ever considered the cobra rims? i think they might look nice, but im not sure cuz i havnt seen them on a fc yet.

Your lucky to find 17's that weigh 18 lbs. Those are considered superlight for 17s.
Wouldn't shock me if they were 27 lbs each.

I can't remember the number right now, but those rims are very competitive in weight. They cannot be beat for the price. It's also an 8" rim.
To be honest I'm not big on the color of the rims, but it goes with the hood. That's just a personal opinion.
Word of warning: I had no problems with my 16" Mustang rims with stock tires rubbing, but when I did a lapping day and had some off course excursions, I killed the tires and did minor damage to the fender.

yea, i had 245's on mine, thats the stock stang size. I deemed it not race worthy because of fender problems.
looks good, i wonder if the centercaps i have would fit yours sicne they have no logo.
I got me a pair of 97' cobra wheels. https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=152605

<spaceballs>I see your downpipe is as big as mine...</spaceballs>
Heh. Those look a lot better painted than they do stock, imhmfo. Bt aren't mustange wheels 17x7?
Also, it's not that you need lower profile tires, you just need to lower your car with some suspension mods. (which will make the rubbing worse up front.)

hmmm......looks like they are painted to me, not polished. but WTFE......
I saw a FC around town last week that had 16" rims on it from the new TAURUS....(this is NOT a typo--I did say taurus!) They are polished directional 5 spokes, and it didn't even look that bad!! They are the same rims that the 2003 Taurus SES comes with for those who want to check it out....
