my new very small FMIC
heres a pic of it. i got it on ebay, is a 12x12x3 with 3 inch inlet. im gonna use it for now because i dont have enought for a bigger one , plus i think for 10-12 psi on stock turbo should be fine until i upgrade it. but heres a pic of it mounted on the car, is sit behind the bumper support because i dont wanna remove it plus the way im routing the pipes i dont need to remove the brake ducts. so what you think?

why, the stock one is much smaller that this one not as thick ethier, so this one is pretty much small but it does a better job that the stock one.

That looks good, I got a 22x6.5x3 that I am mounting up soon (keep putting it off) but I dont plan on changing turbos anytime soon, gonna keep it below 12.5 psi. Can you post some pics of the piping and where your mounting points of the intercooler.

Looks like the endtanks make it bigger than it is. The central core looks to be about the same size. Still, at the 10-12psi range the difference in mounting the stock one and this one would probablu be minimal.

the core is 12x12x3, like i said before, is nowere the same as the stock one, i checked already, total legth of it is 18 inches from side to side. it set me back 130 with the shipping, but i tested it for pressure leaks and theres none at all and it looks awsome for a cheap IC plus is bar and plate desing. is not gonna be a big difference but is gonna be a little more cooler that the stock IC front mounted.im gonna post more pics with a actually mock up pipes

Hmm looks like the small intercoolers a 6v71 runs for each turbo. If it works better than stock and you are happy with it then its a good buy.

yeah just a joke but you can tell if your intercooler is working by placing you hand on the intercooler inlet side and it should feel warm after some driving. Then place your hand on the right exit pipe of the intercooler and it should be cool. If it is not cool then your intercooler is to small.

yeah well for a little more than 130 you could of bought a much larger core, i highly doubt thats much more effective than the stock ic front mounted and if you ever plan on doing anything more than stock to slightly higher levels of boost youve wasted money on that not to mention rerouting IC pipes for a larger ic. all in all i believe you should have shelled out for the larger IC.

I hate to join the bashers, but honestly for $13 more ($143 shipped) you could have had a 450x300x76 core (roughly 17.75" wide by 11.75" tall and 3" thick.) 3" in/out bar & plate. I just bought this size from "delubozparts" on Ebay and was very pleased with what I received. Seems very good quality, nice welds, and bar & plate -- I did quite a bit of price shopping and couldn't find anything quite that good for the size I was after. This size core should fit either right behind the bumper reinforcement (with some cutting) or right behind the A/C heat exchanger (w/o any cutting).
He also has many other sizes and a very good feedback rating for what it's worth.
A word of advice to any others out there looking to buy, TAKE YOUR TIME -- I dont want to assume, but I'd bet that the OP was in a hurry and found something in his price range and said "great, I'll take it". But for the effort of fabbing your own IC piping etc, you're going to have to redo much of that work anyway if you get a larger core -- a little more time spent researching and price shopping would have netted you a larger (but manageable size) IC for barely any more $$.
Again, sorry, I'm not trying to point and laugh, but simply showing what a little patience and research would have found for the same money... Hopefully that will help others.
