my new fc

What's up everybody. I just purchased an FC n/a. All I can say is WOW this is the most fun car I've personally driven! I love the handling.

But there are a couple things I'm not sure about the car. First, when I first crank the engine to get it started it sounds funny and it seems to take longer to start up than a banger engine. Is that just the way rotarys are? (I'm completely new to being around rotary engines). Or could that maybe be a crappy starter?

Next, I'm not all that impressed with the acceleration ability. It seems kind of slow (and I'm not hard to impress, I drive an 88 honda accord). It does have 17 in aftermarket rims though. Would that make a big difference on a stock n/a 13B?

And last, the clutch pedal is sticky. I think if I took apart the master and slave cylinders and rebuilt them it would solve the problem but maybe I am overlooking something else?

Thanks and good day

Hey, welcome to the club.

- All rotaries sound different than piston engines, especially when cranking them over. It should start within about 3 secs or so.

- Stock NA cars are not powerhouses by any means, but they should still get up and go. Maybe your aux port actuators are stuck shut? I think there is a guide for cleaning them in the Archives. There is alot of good info in there, check it out.

- I would try bleeding the clutch fluid first, maybe it's just air in the line.

one of the sensors was bruned off on my aux. ports, which i think made me lose a bit of horsepower, but not much maybe like 1 to 5. im still not sure what the sensor does. i just know it goes to the intake manifold.

what year/model? Mileage? Compression #'s? I had a stock 91 NA with 123K and the coolant seals were going bad, still, it was faster than any single cam honda. Even my friends 92 si hatch with basic boltons, cams, vtec controller would get taken out by my third gear. I raced another 90 rx7 na and I got took by 2-3 cars. A good running na should be faster than your 88 Honda Accord. Trust me, your 88 honda accord is slow, even if it was rebuilt and streetported. unless you had a swap.
