YES! I'm at the top of 21 pages of worthless posts! WHOOHOO! Anyway...
THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH THE WHOLE M-90 SC INSTALL IS THIS: It is improper to install the SC before the throttle body like zbrown did. In this configuration, the SC is just pumping air into a closed system about 90% of the time. This pumping causes a parasitic loss AT ALL TIMES. Think about it, the SC is always displacing the exact same amount of air every time is spins. When doing light cruising, that presurized air is just wasted and is always being blown out the relief valve. When the SC is placed AFTER the throttle body, the SC will spin in a VACUUM when the TB plates are closed or only slightly open. Thus there is NO WASTE and no drag on the engine when you’re just cruising! Can anyone say "EFFICIENCY?" People have to realize that it takes 20-30 HP to spin the Eaton M-90. Do you really want to loose that much power all of the time? No. You only want the SC to be drawing HP from the engine when you need it. IE: Full Throttle. |

The M62 is a good candidate for people who don't want 10psi and want less parasitic drag. The more psi you want, the faster the SC must spin relative to engine speed, and the more power it subtracts from the engine's output. It takes a higher capacity SC to do 10psi than 5 on the same engine at the same SC to engine drive ratio. |

Or you could stick a SC in front of the throttle with a blowoff valve and very little fuel modification and get some decent power increase for cheap. If you want to push more than about 8psi, I would go for the correct mods but at under 5psi you could get a nice 20% and a fat powerband. You pay for your cheapness with inefficiency and bad MPG but I bet if you rig up a better blowoff valve that opens early when the throttle closes but closes as soon as the throttle opens, you'll get most of your MPG back. ed |

anyone looking for a SC, my buddy has 2 of them, he's says $200 obo. PM me if anyone's interested

can this be done on a s4 please let me know

eaton m62 w/clutch
i just received my eaton m62 off of a mercedes v6 and it has an electric clutch with a serpentine pulley on it.
i would like to try to use the clutch feature. does this sound feasible? you come off of the crank pulley with a short belt to a shaft mounted about half way between the crank pulley and the supercharger pulley. on that shaft is a v pulley and a serpentine pulley. you then take a serpentine belt and hook it up to the supercharger. probably at least 1 idler pulley will be neaded somewhere. another thought on this hookup is that by using the shaft method you would not have to have the crank pulley and the supercharger pulley line up because you could have the sc pulley anywhere on the shaft. any and all well, what do you think about this idea. thanks joe |
This is a great thread! Hats off to ZBrown! I love the idea of getting serious performance increases for very little time/money. I think putting in an intercooler would be nice, but not really needed for the amount of boost being created here. The only thing I find troubling is that there is no TB before the SC. Why not just add a second TB right before the SC and synchronize it with the primary TB? That would eliminate most of the inefficiency in this setup, right?
|
wow, as long as you people have been waiting on the brackets and crap you could have finished a turbo setup. ;)
|
Hey guys... If you read the posts, Zbrown is in high school and has access to a computer only at school... Schools are officially closed now... So he probably doesnt have access to a computer... Mods plesae clean this up and sticky it...
|
write up yet.
has there been a write up yet, i looked up to page i think 16 and now my eyes are killing me, if there is could u please direct me to the page, thanks!
|
good god 34.5 thousand views. ZBrown you are godlike.
|
clap clap clap, well its september is back in school yet!?!?! if not someone buy him a computer or tell him they're free to use at the library
|
i bout got the bracket made up for this project if anyone would be interested, let me know. i have a steel fab. guy that said after i get a model made he can make some copy's that look alot better, for the right $. what u guys willin to pay for the brackets? let me know and i'll see what he says
|
What price can you get the brackets for, i'm very interested.
Did you realize this thread has nearly as many views as the faq, that explains a lot. |
i have a m90 for sell 250 shipped e-mail me if you guys are interested i have pics

i got both of mine for $50

Why won't this thread just die! It's the wrong way to do it, it's terribly inneficient (no bypass!), and the guy skipped town!
|
He has skipped town, but his engine did blow up. Do a search for other threads he posted; he's now running a T2 engine.
EDIT: To be noted, his engine blew up because of a coolant leak. |

Hey Sonic: My Air-2-Water intercooler came in the mail... All I need now is time to put it all together! |
I'm still stuck on my pulleys, can't find a damn 6 rib waterpump pulley or a 6rib pulley for the m90. :(

www.emachineshop.com :) Need I say more? |
Pics Of Camden Supercharger Done
|
dude is it just me or do you not have the dashpot for your secondary throttle plates hooked up.. maybe its just the pic
|
so what happened to this? can it be done for under $500?
|
was there ever a write-up on this?
That zbrown guy could probably have made some dough patenting the exact bracket shape or something along those lines... has this been disproved yet? has it been shown worthwhile? Has it blwon up any engines, or anything along those lines? |
anyone know what size pulley he was using and how much boost he was getting after it was all complete?

Please let this thread die? This setup was TERRIBLE and should NOT be duplicated.
|
I'd like to try it...................J/k

Die!
|
i've got this designned all up but alot better..... intercooler all the works, so we'll see how it goes
|
If you're using the same charger, it'll be a waste of time.
And, unless you relocate the throttle body to BEFORE the supercharger, and install a proper bypass, it'll be horribly inefficient. The cost of doing all of this makes supercharging pretty much worthless. |
nah you're wrong. make sure you reocate your tb to before your turbo or it will be terribally in efficiant. LOL! :D This set up is fine if you only want about 200whp. Which can be done with a nice street port without the charger.
|
Don't make me stab you.
For the really retarded people who are going to believe the above: A turbo isn't producing drag at idle, nor is it trying to compress everything it can get it's hand on. Thus, why a turbo doesn't require a bypass valve at idle/cruise. Putting a supercharger (short of a centrifugal), BEFORE your TB is just retarded. |

Could always put a vacuum activated valve in front of the charger instead of the throttle body. *grin* har.. another bump |
The charger will displace X ammount of air, that air would then leak out of your vacuum activated valve, and bleed back off infront of the charger itself since the engine can't use that much (neither will your throttle plates allow that much to flow through it), not exactly a good idea. There's no restriction in that setup, the charger is free to draw in as much air as it can, then compress/displace it. The only proper way to setup a positive displacement is AFTER the throttle body, so that it has a LIMITED supply of air under idle/cruise and not constantly trying to displace such a high volume when the engine doesn't need it.
I'm done trying to provide useful information in this thread, it's pointless. The retards will come in here, read all of the sarcastic rebuttles just to keep the thing alive, think it's true, and go attempt to do it in the most retarded way imaginable. Though, the least you people could do to bump this thread is come up with something that's not completely retarded and poorly thought out :( |
Seriously are you people that ignorant(sp)? This is not a tough concept to grasp, it's simple logic, common sense .. I don't understand how some people can be so stupid.
