my idel jumped to 2000rpm out of no where...

so once again my 7 is acting up. today i went to go drive it and my rpm was hovering around 1800-2000 rpm. a week ago it was perfectly fine at 800rpm and i havnt done anything to it since. could a vac leak just pop up outta no where like that?

If its idling rather high then just press upwards on the front throttle linkage and see if it drops or not. Your throttle cable could be sticking, your cruise control cable could be sticking if equipped and so on. The Fast Idle Cam might not be rolling off properly due to a clogged coolant hose running into the Thermowax etc.

To check the TPS you need a mutimeter and you check the resistance or voltage output. Doenload a copy of the Factory Service Manual if you haven't already. From here,

Stands for bypass air control it adjusts your idle when your AC and other loads are on so that the car doesn't stall. On my 1991 non turbo it is on the passenger side of the upper intake manifold and has one metered air tube and two coolant lines running to it.
