NC my idel jumped to 2000rpm out of no where...

so once again my 7 is acting up. today i went to go drive it and my rpm was hovering around 1800-2000 rpm. a week ago it was perfectly fine at 800rpm and i havnt done anything to it since. could a vac leak just pop up outta no where like that?

If its idling rather high then just press upwards on the front throttle linkage and see if it drops or not. Your throttle cable could be sticking, your cruise control cable could be sticking if equipped and so on. The Fast Idle Cam might not be rolling off properly due to a clogged coolant hose running into the Thermowax etc.

cant be a hose cause i just put brand new ones in no more then 6 months ago, took out the cruise control, and its not a sticky throttle cable. any other suggestions?

If the Thermowax is clogged then hose replacement would not solve the problem. As it was pointed out earlier, w/the car idling press upwards on the throttle linkage and see if the idle drops to a more appropriate level. Takes as long as 5 seconds to do.

Then unplug the BAC. Make sure the AFM flapper door is not sticky. Make sure the CAS didn't loosen up and move.

Take a look at this thread for the archive to give you some ideas/info

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...&highlight=TPS

To check the TPS you need a mutimeter and you check the resistance or voltage output. Doenload a copy of the Factory Service Manual if you haven't already. From here,

http://www.rotaryheads.com/PDF/2nd_gen/

Setting the TPS should be in the emissions/fuel/control systems section

Secondarys turn on after 3800 RPM not at any particular throttle position could be your issue if the bogging is above 3800

Try what satch suggested in post 8 your idle should go down when you unplug your BAC.

When I had a high steady idle it turned out my TPS was out of adjustment

Stands for bypass air control it adjusts your idle when your AC and other loads are on so that the car doesn't stall. On my 1991 non turbo it is on the passenger side of the upper intake manifold and has one metered air tube and two coolant lines running to it.
