My advise would be what i would do, Strip interior replace with all alunimun dash and interior then sand entire body repaint Black put a cosmo engine in it and a cosmo tranny in modd it a little and you will have yourself a drag car... rims look good.

Strip the interior out, let it dry and replace what's ruined. Then fix the engine, wash the body and you've got yourself a nice car.
Don't part it out, and certainly don't turn it into a "drag car".

haha, ok its been sitting for 2 or 3 years around a bunch of trees and it seems to have a leak somewhere on the driver door so thats why its all moldy everywhere. The motor is carbon locked I think, I've got the ATF workin its magic right now.
History of the car: They bought it when it was brand new. The guy had owned 3 RX-7's before that and he says it was the first TII that was sold in Washington. So he drove it for awhile and had fun with it and he says he loved the car, then he passed it down to his son and let him drive it, and sometime in 2000 it just stopped running. So I think they took it to a mechanic and the mech told them they needed a new engine, or a rebuild or something. So even though they loved the car so much they just parked it and let it rot for 2-3 years. Now my friend lives next to them and he found out they were trying to get rid of it for no money at all, completely free. So a couple of my friends thought about taking it and putting in a new motor and interior but they changed their minds. So maybe about a year after I first heard they were giving it away for free I decided if no one else wanted it I would take it. So I went on RX-7club and did a ton of research and I found out the common things that would cause the engine to not run. And I found the ATF treatment. So I was hoping that it would be carbon locked when I got it. I had also been working on an 87 NA RX-7 in autotech for the past few months and I had been reading a lot in the service manual online and about the RX-8, etc. So I understood how rotaries worked. Then I just went over and picked up the car and dragged it to my house. So far we have cleaned the exterior and engine bay with simple green and we are working on ripping out the interior while the ATF sits. I'll keep ya updated and post more pics. Oh also, I have the fan shroud and I will make sure to put that back on.
And here's the explanation of what happend with the motor from another thread I posted a couple days ago.
When I first tried to turn the engine manually by the e-shaft pulley, it was stuck. I was turning it clockwise and I kept pushing and it finally made a "metal clunk noise" and broke loose and allowed me to turn it. Then I could only turn it one full revolution back to the spot where it broke loose and it would stop again and get stuck, then I would try to turn it back counterclockwise and it would be kinda stuck on that spot then loosen up and turn back ok.

Actually those are only lids![Big Grin](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Oh and someone asked if the car is modded, I think it has aftermarket exhaust, it doesnt seem to have any cats but im not sure I haven't looked at it that much, it also seems to have a short shift kit.. unless the TII's have shorter throws than the NA's. Thats all I've noticed so far.

Great deal, you can clean that car up and have a nice car real cheap, I have gotten parts from bone yards that looked way worse than that car and I cleaned them and they looked mint. The only damage I can see is the fact that it sat for so long, get the brake rotors turned, and replace all the fluids at least.
John
P.S. I bought my vert. full pf water with a bad top, and a leaking clutch master for $1000, I drove it home (speedshifting and starting in first) bought a clutch master and replaced the top and I now have a nice little car. One persons junk is anothers treasure.

you all keep saying he went into a lake or something. WRONG!, well, it might as well gone into a lake, its washington state! kirkland gets like a gabizlallion inches of rain a day! anyway, nice car, awesome body, may take some elbow grease to get the stains off and a new paint job, but i say make it streetable. nothing makes me happier than passing by an fc on the road.

...94% correct.

hahaha...that looks like **** but damn can I see potential...and you already got a much better start than any of us did.
For a good rebuild for $1250 go to www.rotoryengine.ca
mine will be ported, lightweight rotors, and single piece 3mm Apex seals for $2200 USD. Shipping from me (3200 mile round trip) cost $400 for the motor+core.
They have a very good name and they distribute to most of the places in the western US that sells rebuilds.
Oh yeah...I think you got a crayfish crawling up the side of your Solo box.

I'm the loyal sidekick for this SOB of a project! I knew I should have picked this car up while I had the chance. The interior is *almost* all the way out. Except were having problems with the dash, anyone want to give us some helpful hints??
I actually posted on this car about a month ago, check it out here
Edit: brandon, I think the box is the defrost.

you have to disconnect and unbolt just about everything you can see and start pullin it out. then you will have to disconnect even more ****. keep workin it and it will eventually come out. i did mine by myself but it REALLLY HELPS having another set of hands to work it free(it will catch and snag on everthing)
good luck, nice find for the owner
