hey guys , i just checked the rotations on the engine and everything seems great. is a rebuild engine with 1200 miles on it. The CAS is rotating good but nO SPARK at all. any of you guys know where i could start checking>?? the car run fine but every now and then it would die out of nowhere meaning the spark was probably turning off or something. you guys have any ideas? i have the haynes manual so im gonna check it out. thanx guys.

How are you testing spark? Using a timing light is unreliable. Put a spark tester on the leading coil and crank the engine. Spark?
If not, them grap the Haynes or factory manual and measure for 12V at the leading. If you have a good 12V, then check the ignitor line for a series of pulses while you crank (scope is good for this). Pulses missing? Suspect the CAS or fuse.

ummm make sure he knows what you are talking about. 12v going in not voltage coming out Via spark wire line.

Where is this ignitor line? and if the CAS rotates is that mean is in working condition? i can test the CAS voltage as well right? what about the main black fuse 80 amp, i replaced it with a new one a couple months ago? would the battery clamps have anything to do with it? what if the battery has lil to no charge would it still give me spark? anyway to check the battery? Does anyone know how i can narrow this down? it could be anything from the idle timing to maybe a ground somewhere in the car?

He has fuel. No spark on leading or trailings. Have yet to test volt as we had no volt meter at the time. You would have gotten spark since your battery was connected to mine on the initial test anyway. Battery clamps? No.

Well, Check for your grounds and Check that ECU agains Hans. Did you mount back the ECU under that panel back on? Or is it still dangling by the wires.
Check the fuses and check the grounds. Recheck the ground wire right under the UIM.
Hans..I really think your ECU is fired. Since I check the car out I suspected something like that. Your best bet is to just try! Just try another ECU it's nopt going to hurt if U do.
Your car died while you were driving...so something failed.
Remember We checked everything right after your rebuild..
The CAS
The ignitor
The relay
The grounds
So I narrow it down to 3 things
Your cabin fuses
Your ECU fried
You iginition switch.
Just to double check make sure your TPS is connected , your AFM is connected, and your boost sensor.
The ignition system is not complicated. People just over look a lot of things. The ignitors are pretty solid and the relay usually dies only by a blow to it with a shoot gun.
Also, be nice to your starter. if you keep cranking it...say bye bye to it.

here is a lil upgrade.....
i bought a new battery.. new fuses.... i unbolted the traling coil w/ igniter i clean all the mother^&&(% connections and grounds... i check the voltage... everything was reading fine... i start the car and it starst right up.. it felt very powerful.... after being sitting there for over 2 weeks... anyways after 5 min the car dies.. and now it wont even turn over not even a sound just light up dashboard.....???

the car started 2 days ago after i cleaned out the main ground for the fc under the coil igniter.. but after 5 minutes the car died again.. but now i dont even hear it crank.. all i hear is a tiny click when i turn the key.
.....COULD IT BE A LOOSE GROUND BY OR ON THE STARTER IT SELF? MY STARTER IS NOT MOUNTED PROPERLY SINCE ONE of the brackets that hold the starter is broken off and its only being hold by half of the bolt.. also the other side of the starter mount doesnt have the nut to hold it in place.. could it be the wires are a lil dirty and maybe since the starter is not mounted tight enough or properly that my car would die 5 min after start up? and that i dont even hear the engine crank at all? ( i say this because i have been trying to crank the car up so much maybe i fucked the strater in doing so )
