I passed emissions when I had a 3" down pipe and a Catco cat on my n/a
If you really want a bad *** exahust.
get the RB header with the two outs. "no colector"
then call Summit and order
2 * 2.5" stainles steel pipes 5 foot long $40 ea I think
2 * 2.5" stainless steel "J" pipes ( for the bend at the rear" $$35 ea
2 * 2.5" inlet/outlet Dynomax Round Racing Mufflers $100 ea
then you can either use a high flow cat from Catco, but they aren't as good. Or summit also has Dynomax Super Converters that are stainless too. $130 ea. these are 3" for better flow
Random Tech are the best but they are $280 ea
next call around in your area to every exhaust shop and interveiw every one that says they can do stainless welding. Tell them what you want, and make sure they are confedent. If they don't say something like "Give me the time and I will give you the system you want" go somewhere else. If your shop can accually mandrel bend stainles then you don't need the "J" pipes. this would be a better way to go
I did this and the guys did an incredible job. it had the best sound I have heard on a jap car anywhere. and wasn't too loud. I had them put flanges between the header and cat, and the cat am muffler. that way if I ever burned anything out I could replace it very eisily without rebuilding the whole thing. For tips I just had them use some of the 2.5" tubing. Most tips just make the sound louder and don't improve performance. Who wants a 5" tip on the *** of their car anyway???
If you want to cut your costs by more than half... all of the parts above except the Dynomax cats com in aluminized steel too

Why even have this conversation? It's obvious to me that you and I have different views on what quick is. It's a pointless argument that no one will win because speed is reletive. I happen to think that a stock n/a is a quick car. You do not. That's fine, but you don't have to roll your eyes at it.

That I can agree on. At the time I got my N/A I was not looking for exceptional speed. I just wanted a fun, reletively quick car for cheap. Now that I have modded it some it keeps me happy. Brute acceleration would be great, and that's why I'm going to college. So when I get out I can get myself a job to help me pay for a car that has it.

Is youy car running right? 6 ports opening/closing? If you are considering the Atkins supercharger you'll have to go with a carburator setup. If you are willing to go the Carb route, I'll say try it first without the supercharger.......THERE'S ALOT of POWER GAINS with a carb setup.
I've raced a few Preludes in my 91 NA FC, and have toast them REAL BAD (where I just kept going and going). However I don't know if the ones I've raced where Vtecs or not.......DAMN RICEBOYS with stickers.

Yo,
Actually, I think the rest of the NA gang gave a pretty good account of themselves without my usual rantings! *grin* Good job!

No, but seriously what kind of mods does your car have?

Learn how to launch...
One car length is about 0.1 of a second.  That's enough time if you blinked at the start, there's your lead.
I find it hard to believe that you're optimizing your launch - most people don't know how to launch correctly in the first place.  I don't mean to sound rude, but it took me MONTHS of practicing at a drag strip to get my 60' times down under 2.2 seconds (and this is not even that good!).
The cars should be close enough that it could be anyone's win.  Practicing your launch from a dead start should give you the edge everytime, especially over a FWD.

I messed with a lot of launch RPM ranges.  At 5kRPM, it would bog a little.  At 6kRPM, all hell broke loose as it spun and wheel hopped like mad!
I think a lot of us run with nothing in the hatch or clear everything out to lose as much weight.  This makes for a pretty light rear end which makes it even harder to get the rear end to plant nicely.
