my car has issues

Hey guys, I'm new here and new to rx7s. I have an 87 turbo 2 that has a few issues, the idle bounces between 1400 and 1600 rpms. As far as I can tell it doesnt have any vacuum leaks but I just sprayed starting fluid around the top end of the motor and it didnt change anything. I can play with the adjuster screw on the throttle body and it will either run at 3200 rpms or I can back it off and it will bounce between 14 and 16! The other issue is the fan switch for heat and a/c doesnt work at all, I haven't checked for power or even looked at fuses yet, just didn't know if this is a common problem or not. It has a few more issues that I'm sure I can figure out, I just have to find the time to tinker with it. I've searched the threads for ways to set the idle and I have a chiltons manual but if there's an easy way to do this I would appreciate any input.

First of all welcome.

Do the actual adjustment proceedure for the tps first. You probably do have a vacuum leak somewhere. The odds are high. Possibly a solenoid stuck open when its not supposed to be. Your problem can be caused by a few things. I recommend going through everything and checking it as per the FSM before you throw parts at it or listen to the crack pot advice you might get here. The manual also has flow charts for troubleshooting different problems. Check every sensor per the manual as well. That way you don't keep posting the same questions over and over.

Go there for FSM and more.

Besides the oh so popular vacuum leakes the possible causes could be the BAC is stuck open to a degree. You could check this by slowly closing the tube (while running)which runs into the throttle body or disconnecting the plug to it, and your BAC does have a screw to adjust the idle to some extent. Very easy to do. The fast idle cam on the rear of the engine might be incorrectly set or perhaps malfunctioning.
