There's a clear coat for polished alum...........DAMN, why the hell wasn't i informed. Man..........!!!!!!! what's it called? I'm tearing mine down again soon, so i'll take care of that, at the same time.

IBM is Innocent Blue Mica It was a color offer on the Rx7 in Japan only.... I think 99-2000 but I may be off on the years.

Yep, I got mine from caswellplating.com. It's VHT brand and is a 1200degreeF paint that claims to be resistant to oils, degreasers etc. It came in a spray can like regular spray paint. it seemed to work pretty well. Then there is this stuff call zoops (I think) that is a chemical, or poweder coat or plate maybe I can't really remember. I think that's what the pros use, but it was pretty pricy and with the $$$'s I'm already spending I didn't want to go there.

I plan to do the same thing with my suspension pieces, except I think I'll go with a powder coat. I don't see paint living very long on the underside of the car.

Yep Casio, that was me. I was supposed to have my car there, but I'm running a bit behind schedule as you can see.
I am trying the diy plating from caswellplating.com that someone suggested a while back. If you look at the bracket hold the clutch line in these pics and the associated bolt... I did that with their cad plating setup. once I got it figured out it works really well. I'll try to do some bigger parts so you can get a better idea, but I think this looks really sharp.
OK, I know these are dark, but I think you can get an idea.

Oh sorry for the confusion. For the IBM, you have to go to an autobody paint store and tell them you want Mazda 20C and they can mix it. That's why it was $50 a pint, and then you have to buy reducer, and a clear and the hardener to go with the clear. I'd guess it cost me ~$100 to paint those parts that color.

I can attest in person and swear on a bible that CARX7 is totally insane with his AE. I've known the guy since '96, been his roommate and in his wedding and he knows more about this car than I thought possible. I even drove with him so he could buy the thing, then added my own customization to the vehicle a year later. When I saw the thing in his garage a few months back (engine bay missing, screws in baggies laying all over, a rats nest of wiring harness, interior gutted), I would have sworn he was crazy thinking he'd get it done by SS6.
I suppose that after him and Robin, I want to see it done the most. Kudo's Chris, you've come a long way from that ghetto ramp setup in college in the driveway. Now get this bitch rolling!!!!

Damn man, that looks good. All that work you're putting into the car is really gonna pay off. One of the nicest FC's I've ever seen. How do you like those Bride seats? I think they could more support in the leg area.

The Bride's are nice. The leg area is fine by me, but the shoulder area is a bit narrow. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to "fix" that.
The brake booster is easy. Two nuts to take off the master cylinder and then two more nuts on the inside to remove the booster from the fire wall, plus a pin that attaches to the pedal. if you're going to paint it be sure to get *all8 the gunk off it. Brake fluid and paint do not mix well. I have sand blasted everything that I'm repainting/plating.

My biggest fear is not finishing it to the level that I want. It's all in the details.....

And before anyone says I'm a jackass for hitting it and not looking where I"m going, I'd like to remind chris that he, Matt, and Ben (or was it blake?) were standing there and watched me do it. Thanks for the warning. Thank god I didn't peel out in reverse, the damage would have been much worse. Oh, and it's the only time I've ever seen Chris that close to crying. Priceless.
