my brakes

i just bought a gorgeous 1991 n/a convertible, runs amazing for 4,600

everything is basically mint, BUT i'm having a problem with the passenger side rear caliper. i took off my wheel and checked it out but the caliper is seized so to say. it was just recently over the past like 2 days i'm hearing grinding on the rotor. i put the C-clamp on it to push it back but it wouldn't even budge. so basically, i need a new rear caliper but i'll wind up just replacing the calipers and get new rotors.

would anyone recommend any affordable but still really good calipers/rotors?

The rear caliper pistons screw in, pushing it with a c-clamp is contraindicated (doctor speak for "Don't ******* do it!").
If it does screw down OK and it's not leaking, new pads and (possibly) rotors should solve your problem.
Also, check that your e-brake cables are not binding.

If the caliper is seized, you can buy them from your local parts store. You will basically get a remanufactured. Good as new.

i went to an autozone right by my house, they didn't have the stuff i needed lol and i couldn't really go much farther with my rotor getting the crap grinded out of it. but yeah, i have somebody working on it right now so hopefully everything will be good to go in the next couple of days and won't cost me too much

They won't have it IN STOCK per say, but usually available to order. I haven't seen any major retail parts chain that carries much parts on hand for our cars... I recommend you go to Advance Auto as they seem to have the better parts...

yeah that's what i had a few people tell me actually, i'm guessing that place is pretty good lol. but yeah, i had a mechanic fix it up. we got a rebuilt caliper that's just as good but once i get a little more money i'm gonna buy good ones and slotted & drilled rotors for the back to match the front. i really appreciate the help though, thank you so much. i love my rx7, i don't even want to drive any other car but her

True. However some parts they can't even order for my ***. Clutch line, clutch slave, brake master.....all that crap i sat there waiting in line for 30 minutes to pick up only to hear "oh, well nobody had it in stock"

"cool, thanks for calling me before i wasted 30 minutes in line and you told me the parts would be here today and i was there when you ORDERED THEM."

I dont buy **** from advanced anymore that's rx7 specific. They've pissed me off sooo many times in the last two years it's not even funny.

www.partstrain.com

And i got my brake rebuild kit from atkins rotary because the ***** at advanced auto did the above AFTER i brought my calipers in for core exchange. I was like "give em back, refund my money, i'll take my business elsewhere".
