Hey, they have the K&N listed as an upcoming filter to be reviewed I can't wait to see the results ... If i forget to check up on that site later, someone please bump this if they see that the K&N findings are up.

Thanks,

Robert

I use a K&N oil filter on my seven also. It's right around 12 bucks at checker auto. No compliants here. I'll be checking out that oil filter link I want to see the K&N and Amsoil results!

I run the same K&N filter on my car and I run a little over 50psi. The filters are just less restrictive, yet i keep cleaner oil at changes

We drive 80s sports cars and are worried about 14 bucks a month? Seems a little odd to me . I'm half kidding, I understand money issues, but thats the middle name for our beloved cars!
On topic: K&N works much better for my TII than anything else I've used.
From what I know higher oil pressure is a good thing, the meter is post-filter and measures how much is backed up before use. Lower means the filter is more restrictive, and higher means its flowing just great. Extreme in either direction can be bad, its good to run it at about what RPeck is ranging to and from. But then again, I don't claim to know everything and I could be wrong.

Hmm! Some good points!

But I still dont see the point of spending three to four times as much on an oil filter :-p

Even when its 3 to 4 times $4? Once a month, at $6 dollars an hour thats max 3 hours of work. Don't eat for a day, in my opinion it's worth it to have a better filter. It's 3 to 4 times as much for a reason.

I get my K&N oil filters from pepboys for $9.99 and then I get an additional 20% off (least I get a perk being a manager)

in the factory service manual it has like a bargraph type thing that shows you the best oil for the temperature in the area. I've heard that people will generally use 20w50 when it comes to be spring/summertime and switch down to 10w40 when it gets to be nearing winter time. It really just matters what the temperature is to determine what the best oil for your car is. Hope this helps... check out the fsm.
