My $500 T2
I just got a 10th Anniversary Edition RX7 for $500. It has a full downpipe back Racing Beat exhaust. I think it is the old version. It also has a 30k rebuilt engine. I don't know if it runs yet, but I don't care. The body is perfect and the paint is still in good condition. Both badges still on. It only has 93k on the car itself. The interior is in almost perfect condition. I am so happy I found this, and it was only 6 miles away from me! I have a bunch of reciepts for the engine and a bunch of other stuff with the original manuals too.
What are some of the first things I should do to try to get it running? I will try to get some pics up soon.

I don't think the engine is blown, but it has been sitting for a long time. I have receipts for a rebuilt engine done by Mazda in '94 at 66k Miles it now has 93k Miles, so I think it could run.

Congrats on the purchase. Alot of what you have to do depends on how long it's been sitting up.
Your car kind of reminds me of my 87 NA. I bought it for 150 dollars, but the car had been sitting up since 1999. I wound up having to redo the entire brake system, replace the clutch assy, and put new tires and a new exhaust on her to get her road worthy again. But I still have less than 1,200 bucks in the whole car. And it even has a great working A/C!!! And also my car is one of the more desireable cars (no sunroof, manual everything).
I am buying another 91 RX-7 convertible this weekend with a blown auto tranny and minor body damage. I am either going to fix the tranny and sell it, or I'm going to swap over the 5 lug diff/axles/brakes and part the rest of the car out. I haven't decided yet.
Again, congrats!!!

And i thought my 87 na base for $500 was a good deal. And i have second dibs on the next 10AE for $500!
As for what to do, look at my thread: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/texas_aces-1987-na-%24500-rx7-build-up-thread-767159/
Very simular to yours and i had some problems and fixed them.
Basically before you even try to start it, you will need to pull the plugs and put oil in the holes. Then manually spin the engine a dozen times and repeat. do that a few times and then let it sit overnight.
Then you can get ready to try cranking it, the oil in there will help the seals, seal. And not fall apart the first time you crank it.
Also, read this: http://www.aaroncake.net/RX-7/unstore.htm
Very good info there

I do plan on keeping the car the original color and leaving the exterior stock.
I was thinking that I would start with doing a full tuneup, changing all fluids, then approaching the engine. Anyone else have any good ideas?

Here are some pics of my 10th AE. There are a few pics of these little weird speakers that I think was part of an old hands free system or something, and one pic of a little connector that goes under the door trim back to a little antennae box thing. I am getting a fuel pump this week and will hopefully get to start it
