Muffler inserts Vs. Presilencer exhaust.

Muffler inserts Vs. Presilencer exhaust.
What's the deal with these?. I need to get my exhaust toned down to avoid a 20 day noise ordinance ticket. I've been searching and have found a few of them inserts which cost $30-40....and then I found the Racing Beat presilencer which cost $155. Has anyone had experiences with both that could tell me the difference in noise level?

I only have experience with Pre-silencers. basically it is a gun supresor 1000 times bigger. Straight through designed with perforations to allow the exhaust gas to expand into it and that takes away some of its energy reducing sound. If you mean those silencer inserts that go into your muffler tip then that will severly reduce their throughput or flow which I woudl say is a bad thing for power. But I will let someone else chime in on that side.

Enough what would be enough? lol
Is there a specific db you need to get to? what is is and what are you at right now? I know that the silencers WORK on my car but it is an N/a and yours should be less loud since it is a TII.

i hav both on my car and loving it because the car is so quiet and i get a lot more races, my buddy has just muffler and its loud and my car is quiet and people are scared of his car but my car is faster. so u figure that out. the V8 boys are stupid because they go by the way the car sounds

I'm trying to get it quiet enough to take it to the police station so that the officer can check it and not send me a ticket, but I also do not want to sacrifice too much power because I'll will most likely leave the silencer/insert on.

The Racing Beat silencer is so-so for reducing noise. It offers no reduction in flow, but don't expect it to do miracles.
Muffler inserts will reduce the db level considerably. The drawback is that they also restrict the flow.
If you just need to quiet it down for one day, I'd get the inserts.
Another option that I've personally had a lot of success with is the header inserts that are sold by summitracing.com. (You don't need headers to use these) They don't raise backpressure and they are super effective at keeping my car quiet. For info:

I'm using a 3 disk 2.5" insert. I tack welded it in the inlet of my RB silencer. Works wonders!!! My car is quieter now than when I was running a cat.
