Question Msd Dis-2

My friend just dumped a MSD DIS-2 on me that he doesn't need anymore. Free MSD WOOT! I want to hook it up to my leading coils. But I did a search on the forums for instructions and ran into something that said that I cant use it on my leading coils, however it would work on the trailing. I've been researching and cant find an explination why it wouldn't work on the leading coils. I want to use it just for the multi spark, I don't have plans on changing the timing with it anytime soon. Can anyone shed some light on this with me? Thanks.

First, read the instructions of the MSD DIS-2.
If you don't have it, you can download the PDF file from their website.
I think it's http://www.msdignition.com/

The docs should tell you it's a TWO-CHANNEL CDI box.
Now, I haven't tried running it into just one channel, but it's a waste of a DIS-2 if this is possible.

Second, your leading coil is only one channel.
So, how do you take something that fires 2 channel to trigger a single channel coil?
I'd like to know also.

If that DIS-2 *IS* working, get rid of it.
It's overkill for your needs.
On eBay, they are selling for around $200!!!

Infact, I'm going to go as far as to ask. What do you guys recommend as far as getting a multi spark discharge? I also was going to get a direct hit kit for my car and combine the two and see how that works. Suggestions?

Sooo...can the either box be installed WITH the rev limited working. I ask this since at the CDI installations page, the installer says "since we're just using the CDI box on the leading coils, the rev limiter is not necessary." Well what if I do want to have the rev limiter. What would need to be done??? Thanks in advance.

The system still keeps the stock rev limited programmed into the stock ECU.
If you want to use the rev limiting function of the CDI box (i.e. MSD 6AL), you need to install: rev switch on the trailing coil pack, which is a little more involved.
