mounting air temp sensor need insulator

i am instaling a air temp sensor in my throttle body elbow.
this is for an aftermarket guage. the temp sensor is all brass and it will read the same tempature as the elbow its self. i need a mylar or plastic insert to screw the sensor into.
do you know where i can get an insulator for 1/8 pipe thread
thanks

Dude, the stock sensor is mounted that way...why do you think that setup isn't good enough...

And every Haltech setup I have seen here ... didn't do that...and if it is some single wire sensor...it has to ground.

Anyways , just my two cents.

The haltech sensor is some what insulated if i remember correctly there is a small wire that takes the reading and the tip of the wire is not touching the surrounding metal.

my sensor doesn't ground through its self it is a 3 wire sensor /external ground.
there tech guy said it will give me a more accurate reading. but he did not offer any advice as where to get one

i may just scrap it all together

If the metal is significantly different temps than the intake air temps, you've got serious issues...

there's not really a huge difference but it reads different from the haltech sensor. i will have to do some testing to see which is off but i think it will be closer with some sort of insulator

Why not try run some teflon tape on the threads to see if it really makes a difference as a temporary fix?
I bet it isn't going to be even 10F different...

I would not hold the Haltech (i.e. GM) sensors to be that accurate.
They are GM sensors after all!

My Haltech E8 is showing 215F+ temps while my SPI Motorsports water temp gauge shows 180F.
Kinda irritating, but what do you expect from GM parts... :P
