more power for the convertible? any info?
so ive got a few basic mods so far on a rebuilt NA with about 5k miles on engine. including racing beat headers, bonez high flow cat, borla cat back, bonez intake, act heavyduty clutch, racing beat springs and sway bars and tokico hp struts. thinking about the t2 fuel pump swap and a haltek ecu any info on the best way to go would be great. maybe a 75 wet shot. what to do?

install a tII engine?
It sounds like you've done most of the stuff you can to an n/a to make power. Have you dyno'd it, btw?
Oh, and if you're really insistent on more power with this engine, but aren't trying to build a race car (because it's a vert, I'm assuming you're not), maybe supercharge it? I know a guy on here had a rebuilt Camden for sale... couldn't tell you who, tho.

Does it have a port job? During a rebuild thats a good thing to do for power.
If you dont have a port job, dont rebuild it just to get one...
I would do what everyone is saying...and just buy a TII engine, and do a swap. If you want to keep your car looking(but not sounding) stock, then do an fmic, rather than the tmi.
just my 2 pennys

How dare you guys speak of putting pistons in a car that is so unique without them. You could no longer call it a RX7 without a rotory under the hood because the rx is rotory experiment. Not to mention you would be ruining the 50/50 weight balance with the big heavy V8 in the front which would cause the handling to be worst then a chevette with flat tires.
Do what you want though because its your car and money.

LoL, whats with the piston swap trolls?
A standalone is a good way to extract extra power from an NA. You can always keep the Haltech and use it if you decide to drop in a TII engine too.

I like both, but the myth of V8's ruining the handling is wrong.
I 4 corner weighed the V8 RX7 and it weighs 2736 lbs with 1/4 tank of gas.
With me in it and a full tank of gas has a 50.1 front 49.9 rear ratio.
It is lighter and has a better ballance than it did with the stock TII
The a/c and cruise were removed and switched to manual steering.
and it handles better than my heavy convertible.

man this guy has already been building this engine do i'm assuming you want to stick with it -- yea ls1 swaps can be cool if you've got a LOT of extra money and time lying around but my train of thought is that of keeping the rotary engine and its unique properties in my 7
-- one of my favorite features of the rotary engine is that at all times all the pieces in my engine revolve in the same direction, the smooth whirring a rotary kind of hums![Big Grin](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
PLUS think of this a built N/A 13b will run very happily on 85 octane - thus saving you money if its a daily driver (even though your gas millage will be shitty enough to make up for this difference and you'll be filling up every other day)
anyway not trying to argue 13b vs ls1 cause lord knows thats been said enough
lets see some pics

I understand your trouble. When I got my convertible I was trying to get more power out of it. The gas mileage sucked too, but I found a cheap way to get more power and better gas mileage without putting an LS1 or an LT1 in.
Use a 5.3 instead! runs on 87 octane and gets better mileage than a 13b.

The convertible is a heavy car and weight is your enemy with a NA 13b they are a fun car and nice to drive just dificult to make them fast without a turbo
The V8's are a viable option and they dont ruin the cars handling .
The fuel injected V8's get better mileage than a rotary also, mine gets 27mpg with stock TII 4.10 gears and the touque is insane.

he is talking about the 5.3 chevy truck engine, you have to use n ls1 intake and pan on it but they are a great engine are easier and cheaper to get at wrecking yards and produce about 300 hp overall a good choice.

back to reality... because it's NA, you're going to throw money at it and when it continues to disappoint you and the "cool" factor of having a non piston motor ends, you WILL emit the following...
with all the money i spent to get beat by stock civics, i could have had a v8 running 12s...
hell, don't go v8... that makes more of "us" around... just please don't **** in the wind with the NA...

you speak of this "handling" part of the rx-7 and this 50/50 when really anyone that REALLY knows **** about balancing a car it is a lower centre of gravity you want. Plus what if he wants to make it into a drag car and get some power outta it. Sorry boys, but an LS1 isn't as heavy as you think it is. It really is not, and I have seen my fair share of ls rx-7's that have kept their "50/50" so throw that been agruement out the window. Plus if you bitch about it that much and sayin it ruins the car, would that just up the value of your car as it is original still where everyone with a v8 isn't anymore. Think about that for 2 seconds bud.
