MOP Position Sensor.
Yes, Ive searched. Read all 32 posts that came up.
Just a simple question about the position sensor.
The FSM states to read resistance between terminals Vc and E2.
I get 1300 ohms. Good.
Also says to "Add the resistance of terminals (Vo-E2) and (Vo-Vc)
Resisance: 1-2ohm"
Ok....
Um.
Huh?
If I do that, this is what I get.
Vo-E2: 540 ohms
Vo-Vc: 1692
Total: 2232 ohms.
so.... is the position sensor bad?
I do get a code 20 from my ECU, this is why Im checking it in the first place.
I dont know about the motor itself yet. Does the position sensor measure the position of the PUMP, or the ENGINE?
Also: what is the shaft coming out (the rectangle one) where the MOP meets the front cover?
Thanks,
Jon

It is supose to be in k-ohms. Muve you desimal point back 3 spaces.
e.i vc-e2 1300 ohms = 1.3 k-ohms
vo-ec 540 ohms = .54 k-ohms
vo-vc 1692 ohms = 1.69 k-ohms
If these are you actual numbers, they are within limitations.
When I add the resistance in my car and my friends I have never gotten the sum below 2 ohms. More like 2.2-2.4 ohms

well.. there is no difference in me saying 1692 ohms and 1.69 ohms. Its irrevelant. Mine's actually a bit more 'precise'.
Good to hear about the addition being close to mine though
