Monza Ehxaust?

Has anyone tried the Monza Ehxaust for the 2nd gen. sold by Victoria British? For $270. it looks like a nice system(sound and how long did it last?)
I've bought lots of stuff in the past from Victoria British for MGs I've owned, and found their prices were the best I could find. It looks to me like their prices for RX7 parts are a lot cheaper than a lot of rotary specialty companies.

I have heard that the y pipe on that exhaust is very restricting. I had a Monza exhaust on my MX-6 and it was extremely loud....I would only expect the same on an FC.

If this is Pace Setter we're talking about don't buy IT!, if you plan on taking the cat off it will be hidiously loud, not a good loud sounds like a weed eater on steroids. I know this cause I made the mistake of buying them. Get this when I took the mufflers off my car I shook them around and it sounded like a tamberine, these mufflers have one straight though tube and one that is directed through baffles, which is are rotarys enemy, kill hp and make hella noise. Plus when I had my cat and put the monzas on the sound wasn't much differn't than stock at all, if you get a catback system I would recommend racing beat but they are way over priced, buy a Y pipe from them then just buy a stainless steel stright through muffler, they sound good and look nice.

just my 2 pennies

Exclamation

I bought the cat back Monza set cause I was low on dough and my factory original was about to fall off. It's a pretty crappy setup. Like everyone says its not very free flowing and the y pipe sucks. It uses these compression U-Brackets to compress the Y-Pipe on to the mufflers I had major exhaust leaks with this unit as well. Also the dual muffler tip configuration did not fit under my rear bumper skin so it rested right against it (not good) and besides it sounded like a chainsaw cutting a metal garbage can. When I finally had the money for the RB Cat Back about 2 months later I pulled it off and it looked like it had been on their for a couple of years. The nice black paint had burnt off and it was rusted and shitty. Anyway, if you need a cat back right away go for it its cheap and will get you by, otherwise save up for the RB system. The difference is like night and day.

I agree British Victoria is a pretty good place for parts, they are right down the street from me and their selection and price for basic stuff is pretty good.

Good Luck!

I also had their headers, and would not recommend getting them either. First off there not equal length, so you won't get the most power with these, second the flange that bolts up the rotor housing is too thin, it worked fine for 2 months then I heard a mad exhaust leek, when I took the headers off it took off one of my studs along with it not to mension half of my gasket was gone. so I had to go to the hardware store and find the right size stud.

to make a long story short, pace setter SUCKS!

I have the pacesetter cat-back. While I dont think its as bad as everyone says it is, I am getting rid of it to get another one , so.. . The slip fittings kinda suck, but it was easy to install, and Ive never had an exhaust leak problem with it. The dual tips look kinda good actually, just a little different. The sound isnt THAT bad, but not the best Ive heard. But I have heard worse systems. Ive had it on for about a year Id say, and while I dont drive the car everyday, the paint is still black and looks almost new. So Id say if youre really on a budget and just wanted a descent freeer flowing cat-back, this one is ok. But now that I have a descent job and can affors a good cat-back, Im getting rid of mine. Ill sell it to you pretty cheap if interested.

Don't own it personally but hey it look beautiful!

I have the N1 on my GXL and Racing Beat on my TII, so I am from the "spend it all on exhaust" camp...
