million dollar question re: air bypass solenoid valve bolt holes

I recently swapped the engine in my S4 NA and just threw on the cleanest UIM/TB/Dynamic chamber that I had (I had three or so lying around.)

As I was putting the final items on, I noticed that I had nowhere to bolt the Air Bypass Solenoid Valve onto on the dynamic chamber. I was like, "What the ****?" so I checked out one of my other dymanic chambers and sure enough there were bolt holes.

Was there a series 4 N/A (the 1986, maybe?) that didn't have the air bypass solenoid valve and therefore didn't need the bolt holes for it? This explanation doesn't really make sense though, because while the bolt holes are missing, the bigass air pipe for the valve is still there.

Check out the pics. Obviously this isn't a problem (so what if the valve bounces around a bit), but if anyone knows the story on this I'd love to hear it.

Somewhere between 87 and 88 they changed that mounting setup a litle, for reasons unknown to me or anyone else. On the later ones it bolts to the vacuum rack, IIRC. Regardless, it doesnt matter, just ziptie the hoses into it and plug it in...it won't hurt it to hang there. Hell, it wont hurt to remove it altogether. ALl it handles is your 3000rpm startup rev...which is actually bad for the engine. Most people remove theirs.

Don't even bother reinstalling it. Stone cold engines should not be revved that high...

Bizarre. Imagine that, I bet some people in Japan had a meeting about that change. Yeah, that POS is outta there.

What's good to use to plug up holes that size? I don't think auto parts stores have plugs that big...

That's the first and last time anyone will ever see NZ recommend to REMOVE a part that came stock on the FC

Nah, I've got a box of unwanted FC parts gathering dust under my workbench. I just like to keep the useful bits as opposed to ripping off anything not welded on.
