miata torsen in '91 convertible

I saw this thread https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hreadid=229115, but wanted to know do you need to have a rx7 lsd to do this procedure? I have a '91 convertible so I do not currently have a lsd. The thread indicated how they started with a lsd in their rx7, but wasn't sure if this just happened to be the case or was necessary.

If you read through the article, looks like you just change your ring gear over to the Miata unit and then do the installation, as long as it's an open rear:

http://www.negative-camber.org/crisp...c/fcpart17.htm

It also states that if the car has S5 viscous unit, axles need to be replaced.

Does any one know if the S5 convertible have equal length axle stubs? The S5 LSDs do not as stated in the article, but was curious if the nonLSD S5s had the same problem for this conversion.
