Question MEGAsquirt EFI?? work with exsisting stock computer?

I was wondering if the Megasquirt EFI would work whilst using the stock computer cuz i know you can unplug the AFM and all with it but i was thinking when you do that the car goes into limp home mode on the both maps ( fuel and ignition) wouldnt that not work then? just curious if anyone has done it yet with the 2nd gen model yet!!! thanks

i see you still have your car even though it was on thepartstrader...

well back to original topic, i believe the megasquit will work but not with stock ecu, megasquirt is it's own ecu and you install the inputs, that's what i think. But if megasquirt was built like a HOT-WIRE type piggyback to the factory ecu, it should work. The problem is that the ecu really needs the AFM to help calculate the air flow. If u can make the ecu to become completly MAP mode, which is it just inject the mount of fuel and spark at load and rpm, and doesn't really care about air. Most standalones do just that but stand alones incorperates temperture of the air to help daily driving. i say go for microtech

Yes, it works. I'm working on it, and there's another forum member who's already done it. You run the megasquirt as the injector driver, and let the ECU take care of the ignition.

ya i know using a set ignition map for the timing would happen to be a very bad idea...

The factory computer changes ignition timing from input from the MAP sensor.
The AFM is only there for fuel.

This is what I understand to be true.
