Megasquirt ????????

Hi guys,
I found this Megasquirt on eBay and I was wondering if this would work on my 1990 GXL/T2 swap?

I still haven't been able to get it to run properly. It sounds like its running on one rotor. Starts right up and it will idle but it misses so much that the whole car vibrates and it has no acceleration. I would be afraid to take it around the block. When you first push on the accelerator nothing happens for several seconds, then the engine will rev up.
I've changed the ecu (3 times), the fuel pump (Walbro 255), both coils, the CAS, the TPS (twice), timing is dead on, compression is 90-95 on both rotors. Something else I just noticed, the oil pressure gauge has stopped working ( I check for pressure with a meter and its OK).

I have: Rtek 1.7, 720 cc secondaries, 3 inch straight thru exhaust, fmic, Walbro 222, na harness, stock turbo, emissions removed(except BAC), remaining vac hoses replaced, new wires, new grounds.

I hate to give up on her but ...

Anyways....... back to the Megasquirt. Do you think I could use it?

Never try installing a standalone to fix an issue like that. It will only make you want to blow it up. A standalone (especially first-time around) is hard enough to debug on its own.

I see that you changed out the CAS already, but is the timing set properly? I know this thread is about the megasquirt but I really suggest you get the car in working order before hand.

Did you modify the na harness properly to run the turbo Ecu

I didn't do the swap. When I bought the 7 the engine had a blown rotor seal so I swapped in another 1990 T2 engine and I'm using the harness that came with the engine. It must be an NA harness though because it has the connector for the front harness on it.

I was told that since I have no emissions that there aren't any modifications to make. Are there?

I actually set the TPS using both the led method and the 1 v method. I used an older analog VOM meter to check for variations in the resistance over the full scale and nothing appeared out of the ordinary but I have a couple of TPS so I'll swap it out and try again.

I was thinking of buying another NA harness and swap that out.
I should have researched swaps before I bought this 7 especially since it wasn't running when I bought it. This is the 3rd 7 I've purchased that wasn't running when I bought it. I did pretty good on the first two but they were just rebuilds.

yeah. sometimes the tps will be fine, and the connector will be faulty. clean the contacts on the harness, and try again.
