Question maybe a dead motor....think i can fix?

ok...i dont know anything bout rotory engines so this might sound kinda noobie and all but what is the seal between the rotors? if that is blown is the motor still fixable? i dont mind rippin the motor apart to fix the seals and what not but i wanna make sure im not going to waste my time. anyone know off hand how much it would cost if i took the motor to a shop to have it rebuilt? in case i go that route. well thanx for any help. oh and just so you know whats going on with the car...i got it last week for 300 bucks and the motor wouldnt start and i didnt mind cuz i was going to swap the motor out but i was thinkin till that time it would be good to learn bout rotories and try to fix the motor thats in it before i replace it next year. its just a hobby of mine to take things aprt, learn bout em, and fix em. well when the motor is tryin to turn over it just goes...rrr..rrr..rrr..rrr..rrr..rr i still have to see if im gettin a spark and ill check the compression sometime next week. i just got a new battery in case it wasnt gettin the juice it needed. ummm... i got new spark plugs just incase.....and im going to change the oil and radiator fluids. oh and the guy said he had over heated it. im sure that will help figure out the problem. i know it might be a lost cause and i should just wait for the new motor but incase there is a chance let me know. thanks again.

The seals are what rings do in a piston engine. They are on the rotor tips and create a seal with the housing. I would start with a compression test as you are going to do. Search on how to perform a compression test on a rotary if your going to use a universal compression tester, which most do. It is done differently than a piston engine. After you get some numbers report back and someone will give the news, good or bad.

You sure you did that test right? Those results would explain things, but damn, 30 in one and 0 in the other...

im pretty sure. i followed the instructions from one of the website that was givin to me. www.rotoryresurrection.com but also know the car hasnt ran in like 6 months...i dont know if that would make a big differance or not. and maybe its not 0....maybe more like 2....haha. it did move a little but not enough to reg on the tester. i was kinda wondering if i did it right too tho. cuz i pulled the lower plug and tryed it without the tester and it seemed fine but after puttin the tester on it had those aful readings...i even did it twice to be sure and the same results.
