Question mass air flow sensor prob (please Read)

Hey, I just got my Rx-7 runnig and if i hold the mafs in it will start and run great.. then i have some hold it till i get inn then when im it i rev it up and as long as i rev over 1,800 Rpms itz fine and dont need to be held inn. but under 1,800 i have to hold it in a little and it will idle at like 1,200 then i let go and she stalls... so im running it wid no air box for now just the mafs hung in the approx locatation(does it need a air filter to work correctly) i have tried another air flow sensor and it seemed to have the same prob...

any help would be great

Thanx

Dustin

You need to get your hands on the factory service manual (download at TEAMFC3S.ORG), then check the AFM's internals with a meter per the steps given in section 4. OR, read the AFM inputs out at your ECU, also per section 4 tests...The latter test will cover the wiring going to & from the AFM also...

You probably have a major vac leak or hose disconnected on the AFM side of the intake.

it needs to be capped off, and you need to make sure that if you have the big one hooked up that it is hooked up to something or also capped off.

And there is no need to bump for any question unless 24-48 hours have gone by. Bumping in an hour and a half just means that you are being a jerk.

and have you even checked for a vac leak yet??? You best not be bumping without even checking the basics.
