WA m spec intercooler?

ok so i bought this fmic kit off fusionetics which is an ebay store,

m spec intercooler?-fmic.jpg

they claim its for an FC but all instructions and install guides i have found for m spec have different looking cores, the only cars i see running cores with these inlets and outlets are FD's. oh and the kit came with no instructions i cant really see this intercooler fitting onto my car...

anyone see any of these cores on an fc?

I've not seen one. The intercooler looks as though it would be better suited for a V-mount set-up.

Was a different intercooler pictured when you made the purchase?

u think?? ive seen plenty of FD's with these as front mounts, but i cant find any info on FC's with them. very annoying the intercooler piping looks very similar to other front mount kits for FC's.

I was only talking about the intercooler when I said V-mount. The piping looks just fine for a FMIC set-up. You can always cut the inlet and outlet on the intercooler. There should be plenty of ways to modify it. Maybe you'll get a different intercooler with it. As I asked above... Was a different intercooler pictured when you made the purchase?

Why did you purchase this kit if you were so "iffy" about it??

nope thats a picture from the exact website and its the same intercooler that was pictured when i bought it. i wasnt skeptical until i found no instructions and i couldnt figure out anyway to really mount it with the mounts that came with it. i guess i thought they wouldnt sell a fmic kit with a v mount style intercooler..call me crazy. it is egay though..

Have you mocked up the piping in your engine bay yet? Have you removed your front bumper??

There may be a way to make it work. It all depends on how much time you're willing to put into it. Can you not return it? Or have them send you a different core for the one you have? Maybe it is an FD intercooler.

i have play fitted the piping and it seems to be mostly in order but i just dont see how the intercooler would work with the end tanks th eway they are. my bumper cap is off not the actual metal black bumper, idk if im supposed to take that part off for mounting because i dont have and cant find any instructions online. this is an m spec greddy knock off pretty sure. i looked at the same websites FD kit and the intercooler looks identical but different piping.....

Every similar kit that I see on eBay shows that intercooler for the FD. You can contact the company or you could sell that IC and buy one that will fit the piping.

yes thats what i was thinking, that ebay store that i got this from has multiples of this kit with this intercooler for the fc 86-92...wtf idk why they are the only company to put this intercooler with an fc kit. seems more expensive then putting the standard one with the normal inlet and outlet. ive seen "m spec" intercoolers for the fc but they dont have these inlets and outlets.

Had you bought their 3" universal kit, you would have spent $100 less. You would have had to cut your own piping and would have been the intercooler you needed.

i dont even know if i would call it a mistake they advertise that intercooler specifically with the FC kit, it could be that im just completly missing how to mount this to an FC. but i cant find any info on anyone using this on an fc. they must think it works with the FC or something..

There calling it a FMIC kit for a FC but the Intercooler other than V-mounting like what was said earlier is all it could be used for.

Dear alex91na,

I'm sorry for that mistake, we just currently out of stock on the intercooler you are looking for. So, you can either ship the intercooler back and we can give you a refund for it, or you can return the whole kit if you want, it's up to you. If you decide to just send the intercooler back I can refund you $120, and I'll send you a shipping label to ship it back to us.

Please let me know what you would like to do, and once again we apologize for the mixup.

Best,

- fusionetics

the whole kit was $120?
you could probably buy a cx racing core and keep those pipes and elbow, sell off your greddy elbow for like $60-$80 and come out pretty good

the picture is of a Greddy M-spec chinese knockoff front mount intercooler core for an FD3S, will not fit an FC3S without major reworking of the kit or the car.

send it back and have them send you the proper intercooler, they apparently have no idea which is a 2nd gen kit and which is a 3rd gen kit. or get a refund.

^^^^ this is the message he sent me after I addressed the situation. He says they just ran out of the correct intercooler but I might be calling BS cuz they advertise the intercooler I received. All well he is will to refund 120. I paid 270 for everything and they sell the piping for 110 so I'm losing like 40 bucks...
