All Turbos in the US came with LSDs, I dunno about UK models, but I'd assume it was the same way.

The turbo and NA diff's aren't compatible. The TII one is bigger.

The TII Differential won't just bolt in place of your NA unit. You'd need to swap to TII axles and fabricate a custom driveshaft.

Don't bother with the Turbo diff, look for an MX-5 LSD and swap the centre into your housing.

they didnt put open diffs in the turbo did they??
They did in Japan...

good luck finding the appropriate MX5 torsen. they aren't too easy or cheap to find around here. i don't know about there.
maybe a better/easier option is just getting a clutch-type LSD from an S4 NA. it would be a direct swap.

if you go with the turbo drivetrain, look for the FD LSD instead.

Now, if this is for drag or stoplight racing,

86-88 GXL
88 GTU

are the diffs you want.

If you have a turbo rear end then 87-88 TII is what you want.

If you are getting the LSD for cheap, just get it and trade it to some one that has what you want and wants what you have. You need a n/a lsd though like every one said.

The gxl doesn't have limited slip

You want an 86-88 rear end from an 86-88 GXL or 88 GTU.

Read the FAQ at the top.

By now most of the stock S4 LSD's will be pretty worn and not very funtional, so you'd need to rebuild it. At that point you're better off getting a Torsen out of a 1.8 Miata and swapping it in. They're very good for street driving (smooth), and they don't wear out.

If you go with the mx-5 diff you need to get a certain year+, I think it was 95+. I dont remember exactly so just do a search to make sure.

It's the 1.8's (94-05) that had the Torsen, but there's no easy way to tell if a given car has one, you have to call Mazda with the VIN to be sure.
