hell he is a thickheaded teenager that had a torch to play with. who can honestly say that they wouldnt go burn something with a torch when they were 18 and think ups takes too long to do anything?
cut springs isnt that big of a deal.

at 18 years of age, he's more concerned about picking up young chicks that prefer the bounciness of improperly lowered cars. People, dont you remember when YOU were 18? You knew everything, and everyone else was an idiot.

This is a very simple concept. Why is is so hard to understand?

^ although this is very true, some teenagers understand the logic of having a car that doesn't bounce all over the road. If you are going to lower your car do it right the first time. Also when you lower your car it is a good idea to go with different struts and shocks.(dampers) The stock ones can bottom out, and it will handle so shitty. alot of my friends have lowered cars, and some of them handle like **** everywhere they drive because the stock dampers are blown from being overworked

He's still 4 lug but wants to invest in new springs? I'm not on the 2nd gen section enough to know if this has already been discussed... but the 5 lug conversion was really simple and not that expensive... and now I was able to get better wheels that aren't just universals that could fit a civic.
Fone dial rims = FTL. Especially if you're all about having the car lowered! Hopefully the 5 lug is somewhere on your agenda... or at least new wheels.

you guys would hate me cause I drive my car stupid with cut springs in the rear but the crappy ebay teins weren't good enough and now it's lower and stiffer in the back, but I will get coilovers. Plus I finally know how to work on these cars the right way so no worries here :P And I drive it the right way!

whats with everyone and hating the cut springs!? i have em, they're fine...lowering springs arent gonna have any less of a negative camber effect that cutting ur coils...its still a lower ride height...you still need camber adjusters...etc...

cut springs
On my TII (stolen ) i cut my rear Eibachs. Not too much tho. I only cut i think it was a half coil on the top. Its pretty much a dead coil anyway. I had no bouncing at all. It just got rid of that "raked" look.
Its obviously NOT lowered too much. It handled great for just having springs. Lower it any more and it would be bouncing through turns. NO fun when you're going through twisties with no guard rails!!

for the MOST part springs are designed to have a certain tolerance of material volume to load carrying capacity..........the amount of steel used in the spring is hopefully just enough to hold up the car over the life of the vehicle with normal use. cut off some coils and you've dramatically reduced the amount of material...................which almost always will lead to an overstressed coil that will sag prematurely.

Ok. As long as the tire is basically flat on the ground at ride height, it will wear 100% normally, it doesnt matter how low the f**kin car is, just as long as all of your geometry is right. Cutting the spring changes its overall spring rate and the shocks will not be in balance with the springs which can cause a bad ride or whatever. And why the hell would you ever cut springs when you can buy them for so cheap?

[QUOTE=Because free is still a lot cheaper than "cheap". Plus it allows minor height adjustments if you need it. Not all aftermarket springs will give you exactly what you want.[/QUOTE]
EXACTLY. cutting a dead coil to drop it a bit does nothing to any performance.
