Lower intake gaskets blown
Ok I just recently got a 1987 rx7 twin turbo, it's been riding rough lately and when I took it to a shop the guy told me the lower intake gaskets were blown. This repair would cost me about $2000 due to labor. I bought the cr for 3k and not willing to spend 2k for this repair. I will be having a lot of time on my hands though and I really want to try and fix it myself, so if anyone could supply me with any information about how to remove and replace everything I would very much appreciate it.

I may be fairly new to to my rx7 but when i took my motor apart the intake manifold was pretty basic to pull apart, I would suggest getting a hanes or some rx7club members to guide you through the manifold gasket replacement, If i paid $200 to replace that gasket i'd buy a gun and one bullet.

WHO THE **** IS THIS GUY???
Please tell us who they are so WE CAN AVOID THIS CON ARTIST!
I wanna know how the hell you can diagnose a bad gasket on the lower intake manifold (to engine, I assume?).
This is next to impossible without tearing the LIM off, and this requires removing the turbo!
I think he was trying to bend you over.
Take the car to another competent shop before trying to do this job yourself.
I'm 90% sure it's NOT the LIM gasket (to engine).
There's a bazillion other things that can leak that can produce the same results / problems.

More info
Well it's good to know the intake manifold is easy to pull apart and I'd prefer to do it myself anyway. The guy who told me this work at the mazda dealer, after taking my car to a few other shops that couldn't figure out the problem I took it to the mazda dealer. They decided the egr valve was bad and needed to be replaced and thats when they found found the gasket was blown, supposedly. So I'm willing to do it myself but I'm fairly new to Rx7s so I'll need all the advice I can get.
